I might be naive and say isnt it only used when you have the heater on hot ? If you turn the heater off it shouldnt use the matrix ?
Nope, water flows through it continously when you adjust the control a flap would open directing air passed the matrix.
But if you have it turned off and dont switch it on wouldnt that be ok for the time being ?

Thanks for all the input guys. Think i will bypass the matrix just untill i can get the bits together & do the job all in one go. Any body know of a 32GTR being broken up ???????

Cheers. Matt.

It wont make ANY difference the water is flowing through the matrix continuously what every you have your heating controls set to. The housing for your cabin heating either diverts the flow of air through the matrix for warm air or its routed avoiding the matrix for cold air. Will try and find a schematic to show it.

Matt,
It is all quite tight where the heater pipes run, so the bypass may not be that easy. if you need any rubber or silicone pipe give me a shout.
Try Ron at RK for a heater matrix
