Looking at your RAM pipes / Trumpets they are very short. If you can get some 50mm ram pipes in there you could definately get the socks on but at the mo they look very short although they might still fit if you can get shorter socks.

If you can get the 50mm pipes on there i would recommend some kind of ducting feeding cold air onto the pipes or some kind of vent in the bonnet but if you're looking to keep it standard looking then some ducting would work.

Duncan's idea of angled trumpets sounds like the ideal fix if you can get them. Then you could put an individual cone filter on each trumpet.

Alternative fix and will definately fit your webers in the space provided...

Angled Rampipes seem to be as rare as rocking horse drops and i am struggling to find any so i reckon the only way you'll get some of those is to get them made for you.

that manifold has been designed for a car with a Non-servo pedal box.....................

not sure any of the ideas will work unless you can actually bolt on some form of trumpet and space looks severley lacking from pics

what space is there between carns and m/cylinder??

Yes, i agree Alyn.
My brother had a couple of Manta's with twin DCOE's and they weren't that near to the cylinder.
I think you hold the socks on with cable ties!
You may need some more stubb to give something to fix to though.
Alternatively just go for the mesh covers to stop any large particles getting sucked in although that doesn't protect you from the carb backfire scenario that Gerry mentioned.
Different manifold?

They might stop small rocks getting ingested into the engine but probably not much else :o

How about cutting the inner wing to bring the pipes through?

I agree the gauze won't stop small particles of dust etc... and as such a proper filter/socks should be used, however based on the positioning of the Carbs/Rampipes and serious lack of room Suz will struggle with anything else. Maybe that's why the current rampipes are so short.

The only thing you can do there is find a manifold that points the carb upwards at an angle or has a bend in the manifold that raises the carbs over the master cylinder resevoir, or a much shorter manifold (but then you would have to mess with re-routing the cooling), or you get some custom rampipes made that bend up and over or under the resevoir towards the front of the car. A bit like a seperate induction pipe for each of the barrels. Then you can get an airbox or individual cones to fit.

There is bugger all room in there so i would favour the custom rampipes as i reckon the manifold will be much harder to source and it would be a more involved/complex fix unless you can buy a ready made kit.

There is always a fix if you look hard enough. :D

http://ramair-filters.com/cgi-bin/byfil ... html#popup

Should fit the current installation and doesn't involve much if any faffing about. I have to say i haven't ever seen a filter like this, in the way it fits, but with the limiting space and the way it mounts and covers practically the whole carb it won't protrude very far in front of the rampipes so it should fit in the available limited space.

They do a kit that fits the Opel Manta specifically :thumb:

These still will not fit mate. They mount on the end of the carb and cover a trumpet if required. They do not cover the carb.
They will fit the Manta 400, but not this Modified Manta.
I think we all agree the problem is the clearance at the back bu the brake cylinder. From the look of the pics there is only circa 30mm.
I think it needs bespoke short trumpets and socks (clean) if the manifold brake arrangement is to be kept.

Sh1tSticks!! I didn't notice that and now i look at it again the trumpets in the pic are longer 50mm. Quite right Eddy!! Sorry :vsad:

Oh well....failing that how about a custom home made filter. You could cut out your own base plate from some SS sheet, attach a long slim cage made out of criss cross grill material with Airfilter material/foam inside that covers all 4 trumpets. It would only have to be about an inch thick and that would just about fit.

And failing that again..... I'll get me coat!! :-#
