If I remember rightly, there is 6 bolts to get the frames out. You may need to take the console trim off to make it easier. You will end up with the head unit, guages and aircon controls out with a frame on each side. Once out there are bolts on the side of the frames to detatch them from the head unit. Not that tricky really just a little fiddly to get the bolts out without dropping them.

Hope this helps. :)
I may be getting older but I REFUSE to grow up :D

Nik is absolutely right Ben! The head unit and aircon are connected by one bracket (the screws on the side of mine were stripped as s#!t). I got mine out without touching the DIN gauges. Whatever you do, ground it right behind the shifter! Let me know how it goes, because the wiring on my Pioneer were completely different than the Skyline's. There are plenty of things that don't work now, i.e. subwoofer, rear speakers, cd changer.... ...hey, I'm not an electrician!

If you can't get let me know. I can help out. I've intalled 3 different head units in my GTR and 2 in my old GTS-4. There should be six bolts in the frot that hold the bracket to the consol.
Failure will not overcome me so long as I have the will to succeed.

Hurrah, stereo is out, as is much of my dash :).

Thanks fella's, yep did it by removing the 6 bolts - and pulling the cradle that contains the aircon and the stereo out ... is it worth swapping the aircon over with the stereo so the headunit sit's higher?.

Good news is that I seem to have all the original wiring and just need a nissan to alpine iso connector .. woo hoo ..

Well new stereo fitted ... it's quite easy - when someone tells you about all the other screws :) ...

So aircon is moved and stereo is now in the middle - only downside I must have knocked a bulb on the boost gauge so strip it down again tomorrow !!...
