rubber & plated mild steel.

I don't follow the reasoning behind E85 being cheap? Tesco 99 with, iirc 5% bio-ethanol is more than their 95 RON by quite a bit.

E85 would be fine to use - I know someone that has converted over and has had a huge hike in power. 300 WHP to 350 WHP just from fuel and map change to suit.

Down side is that it requires 30% more fuel so bigger injectors are a must have.

It's suppose to be the new 'GREEN' friendly fuel that will be manufactured from crops. It will be much cheaper to grow/process/refine in the UK than drilling for it, transporting it to an oil refinery, processing and refining abroad, then shipping it to the UK.

In the early days it will come from abroad in big tankers ready to go but in time more and more UK farmers will start growing it therefore the less dependent we'll be on countries like Russia/Norway, and the cheaper it will be for us. UKGOV reckons they want 60% of UK cars running on E85 in the next 10-15yrs.

Personally speaking....I WANT SOME NOW!!!

P.S. Stainless Steel fuel lines are a small price to pay for being able to use super high Octane fuel, and they look nice too :)

On the subject of Millers octane booster etc, i am soon going to be able to supply the Octane plus and CVL turbo plus and their superb range of oils like the ester 10/60 comp if anyone is interested. I already use their products and find them superb.
I will put a thread in Trader deals when it is confirmed ok.

Also on the subject of booster....

Tesco 99 is based on a 'boosted' stock already so I doubt whether + 4 or + 2 could be acheieved with the boosters.

V power is a different higher quality base that is not already boosted so will give true boost figures.

Yep...due to E85's lower calorific value and as you have rightly said you need slightly bigger injectors, your car will suck E85 like it's gone out of fashion so it had better be cheap but then again who care's.....we all like a good drink sometimes don't we.

The intersting thing is that all the emissions you get from your exhaust come out as water vapour and a few hydrocarbons. So technically you should be able to get through emissions testing without CATS. The only reason i could see that they would leave modified CATS in place is to restrict the performance of your car...maybe

P.S. There was some independent testing done recently on the quality of V-Power,Tesco99 fuels and BP Ultimate 102RON. Tesco rated higher than V-Power not only on fuel economy but power delivery too. Another experiement they did was to compare old Optimax to new V-Power and it was found that both fuels performed similarly therefore came to the conclusion that there was very little discernible diffference between the two. As for BP 102RON it made more power than either V-Power or Tesco99 but prolonged use on BP 102 RON showed power to drop considerably after a sustained period of use.

I thought these findings were pretty interesting and as for the latter, not someting BP want everyone to know i'm sure.
