OK I have had major problems with my clutch recently and have the same syptoms as you, very very tough to put into gear, this is a brand new clutch i have just fitted and have done zero miles in it since new clutch, so i have pulled the gearbox off again to investigate.
I will let you know how i get on as i am investigating a number of things to permanently fix it,
lenghten push rod
check spigot bearing
check length of throw on clutch etc etc
I have had enough of my car at the moment due to this problem.
