VAG 1.8 Turbo ticking under acceleration

My wifes car has started making an odd noise.

Seems to only do it under load/when making boost. Its a light tapping noise which seems to increase with engine speed.

Any of you VAG experts have an idea please?

These engines are 'noisy' anyway mate, so unless it's gotten far worse or pronounced I would say it would be the 'normal' sewing machine kind of noise that's attributed to any number of things............I would start with the exhaust manifold gasket as I am sure that mine went on the Cupra.

This isn't normal mate.

No noise on tickover or if you rev at a standstill. Just when under load.
What's weird is it did it a while back then dissapeared now it has returned!

Looking on the net brings up all manor of stuff that if I had weeks to troll through would be great!
