Over sensitive sensors?

Post by Ben »

I don't use my car very often, I seem to be suffering from the petrol 'going off' - the symptoms being that the ECU light comes on until I'm nearly out of fuel ... once I refill the car with 'fresh petrol' within a few miles the ECU goes off and everything is fine, come back two weeks later of inuse on comes the ECU light.

The error code that I got before was

16556/P0172/000370
16556/P0172 - System Too Rich, Bank 1

Any ideas? .. is there a part I can replace?

This is a similar thing to the problem Rob had; think it was down to a coil pack with his Ben, but you'd need to check with him to be sure (different symptoms but the same ECU code IIRC)

Ahh, oddily enough it does occasionally suffer from a stutter which I thought maybe coilpacks - will chuck on a new set during the week as a test :)
