Underseal

Post by roey »

I've been told that now the cold and wet weather is upon us my Evo should be waxed or sealed underneath. Whats the best product and best way to do this?

Yes i Japan they get no protection couple of years in the salt here the seams start to look rusty etc.
Take a look underneath some get done in the UK if you are lucky.
If not you have a couple of options seal it with spray on Shultz or use a waxoil product spray or brush on!
For best results i advise you remove the plastic arch linners and treat behind them up in the arches. Raliart dont bother there but worth doing.
Another common overlooked problem is the tin wear covering the filler neck pipe at the bottom it fills with mud and rots the pipe and covers.
Pop it of clean and treat put it back on. you can remove the fineck also to repaint it bit tricky to get to the clips and the screw in the filler flap always round off

Hope that helps if some one does it for you make sure you get a full job or you will only have part potection.

It is dity job but well worth the effort
Jet wash it 1st day before perhaps, then scotch brigh the suface and clean with thinners or simliar before aplication of you sealer.
I used waxoil i dont like seing the black tar scholtz sprayed every where but that is me. Waxoil does need topping up ever so often.
The boot floor is one of the worst spots so spend time under there.

My Scoob RA needs doing; anyone around here who'd do a real good job of it?

May have a go myself. Wouldn't it be better to steam clean first rather than jet washing?
