Toyota Supercharger question

Post by Gerry H »

Have a friend with a Mk I MR2. The garage has told him that the bearings are shot on the Eaton Supercharger but they're unable to source replacements due to the age of the car. The only info is a housing No. 17064 and they're non ball bearings, so presumably sleeved.

TIA

If you strip the supercharger down you can get the bearing dimensions from the units themselves. A speciallist bearing manufacturer should then have something suitable in their catalogue and be able to advise.

If you get stuck then bring the bits to the hethel sprint and I can have a look at them for you.

I've had a look around and parts for this car are as rare as rocking horse droppings never mind parts for the SC14 Supercharger as well.

MR2 Breakers - http://www.justmr2breakers.co.uk/

Site with useful links - http://www.megaboost.co.uk/mr2/frames/forsale.htm

MR2 Owners Club would be a good starting point as there is bound to be someone on there with a supercharger for sale or knows of one.

It looks like either a new supercharger or new parts will have to come from the USA or Japan.

Good luck on this one :thumb:

That's great, thanks Rob. He reckons the garage are pretty competent so they should manage that OK. If not, see you at Hethel with the bits :D

I think he's tried the usual MR2OC type sites but I'll pass on those links.

Thanks Francis. :)
