hi all
sorry for the long post
I am looking for some good advise as i am seriously losing patience with this turbo:(
Its been the pain of my life the last few weeks-months!!
Bought it 2nd hand supposed to be only 8k on it and in a1 condition..
Anyway altered everything on my car to fit it only to drive down the road and find what sounds the bearings are shot on it but no excess smoke but it also kept stalling.
Anyway I stripped it down the housings and found the the comp and turbine blades had been rubbing on the housings.
But also spinning the wheels the roller bearings are noisy.
So I thought oh well been stitched up one of those things I'll get it repaired thinking it would be like the older t range.
Only to find they wouldn't repair it only change the chra centre and charge
turbo problems

Sounds like the new wheel is a 56 trim GT series, the 0.3mm difference could easily be down to the wear. The "slight movement with the weight of the wheel is enough for it to touch the housing" is odd, does the turbine wheel do the same? What happens if the turbo is rotated 180 degrees (ie upside down)?
Jase.

sorted it
problem was actually the turbine wheel touching.
stripped it down and painted the inside then re-assembled it to find out where it was touching.
Was hitting on the wide part of the wheel against the lip, housing was possibly a bit distorted as it had a small crack, so I used a die grinder on it -re-assembled all back on the car and touch wood running well, turbos lovely and quiet and has very good response running road boost of 13psi.
Just got to get it running over 16psi now as above this I get a bad misfire coming onto boost!
