ive seen a few cars with engine stabilisers to stop the engine from rocking from side to side under load
is it true what i have heard that with the engine twisting you lose horse power or is it just a myth
and im barking up the wrong tree because our engine does move slightly when you rev it and its the
same on my other cars or is it just a ford thing

no engine will be fixed rock solid....the momentum from the crank spinning and everything joined to it will make the engine move....The engine damper just helps to soften it a little against the chassis....in exactly the same way as suspension does...

i made my own engine mounts out of 100 shore (ie bowling ball solid!) polyurethane and the mounts cracked sometime within a year.dynamix wrote:you wouldnt want it solid mate.
Gary's Evo is pretty solid but there is still some movement there to isolate some of the vibrations from the driver/rest of car.
Polybushed engine mounts are what is needed to do this i believe.
it is VERY easy to make your own polyurethane engine mounts. there is a company in newmarket called Mouldlife that for 40 quid odd will sell you a DIY kit of 70 shore polyurethane (perfect stiffness). all you need do is burn the rubber out of your existing mounts, tape up the underside of the mount with gaffa tape and pour this stuff in. it sets in about an hour and is ready to put back in the car. i have put quite a lot of business their way and everyone has been very satisfied with the results.
the 40 quid buys you enough to do 8 engine mounts (2ltrs total mix), so double up with a friend and its even cheaper. you can also buy colouring agents and other fillers (gold flakes etc) if you want bling as well as function.
