Mallory Park & Bedford Aerodrome

Post by Andy_Cat »

Has anyone got any experience of these :!: :?:

Looks quite a fast circuit at Mallory from the circuit map and Bedford looks quite big, looking at possibly getting a session in somewhere before Marham, so i dont look a complete numpty

And before its said i cant get time off for the snetterton day

I can bring the Circuit Guide down tonight for you to borrow. I would also suggest watching the videos on youtube as they will at least give you a rough idea of what to expect. One thing though Andy, the surface and layout at Marham is totally unliike Mallory, the only thing you'll be able to compare is how you and the car feel after 20 minutes hard driving. Best of luck.

Mallory is an interesting place it hasn't got a vast amount of corners but it does boast Gerrards, the longest constant radius corner in the UK. Its well worth a drive round!

Bedford is a 'safe' circuit with good run off and not too much to hit with very little armco. The full circuit is great with a good mix of fast and slow corners and a 1km straight. I've not done Mallory so can't comment.

The big problem at Bedford is the noise levels, I had to turn down the boost the last time I was there, in Nov/Dec and that was with a 93dB revolution system on. I think it's recently been lowered so not much chance of my going again and it's only 20 minutes away from me.

You can have the car noise tested at Bedford, if you don't mind them taking your car out and giving it a thrash past the noise sensors but it's the only way to be certain, they're very strict due to the local council and moaning villagers :x Check on their website, the figures are there somewhere.

I've done Bedford several times. The GT circuit is ace, like Gerry says it is super safe but avoid passing the noise monitors at full chat or with another Scoob/ Evo type car. I've been black flagged twice both were when passing with another Evo.
The other option for noisy cars is to fabricate a 90 degree bend for the end of your tail pipe. This way they cant gat a good static test and it will be quieter on drive by too
Have fun :)
