OK, better just let you all know a brief plan for the day, please read this fully as absorbing it will help the day run smoothly......
I hope you can forgive the formalities, save's me having to billow out at the start of the day to a crowd of people eager to see Horsepower happening!!
We will run each car on the list approximately 3 times, or until we are happy that we have achieved a stable run. We will then print graphs from the data achieved on the best run. Usually (but not always), there are 3 graphs in total along the following lines.....
1. Estimated Power @ Flywheel vs Flywheel Torque
2. Power @ Wheels vs Boost (if applicable)
3. Lambda vs Tractive Effort
We reserve the right to abort a run should we feel that it is not in the best interest of ourselves and the owner of the car to continue. No refund will be offered in this instance.
Please be sure to check Oil and Water in plenty of time and if your car has had a chance to cool right down, then it might be wise to get it running for a few minutes. It will be running whilst we get it set up onto the rollers, so should be fine.
We will usually ask the next person on the list to park his/her car in the space to the right of the door, so that we can adjust the tyre pressures. Then, once the previous car comes off the Rollers, the next one can go straight on. We would appreciate any help in this area, if anyone is happy to adjust their own tyre-pressures according to our instruction, then please say so!! Also, we will return your tyres to your preferred pressure after the car comes off the Dyno, but since we are only human, can you please take it upon yourself to make sure that one of us actually does it!! We have a good system, but in the chaos of the day, I would hate for it to be over-looked.
Importantly, please notify us if your car has any known leaks. Our Dyno cannot be moved, so if oil or water gets dumped onto or under the Dyno, it is incredibly difficult to clear up. At least if we know in advance, we can choose to take precautions.
I would like to get the first car on and ready to run at 9.00 sharp. The Dyno Dynamics Dyno, particularly the 4-Wheel-Drive one has one of the most complex tie-down systems to hold the cars into the rollers, so setting the cars up will take time. So we need to keep everything ticking along smoothly. This will minimise down-time and ensure that the day is kept interesting for all those in attendance.
Upon arrival, please find me and I will give you a form to read and fill in your name and car details along with a brief spec. When you hand the form back to me, I will begin numbering them according to running order. Be prepared for there to be some juggling around though. However, I will try and make the running order favourable to everyone. Please notify me of any preference and I will try to accomodate as best I can.
We will stop briefly at lunchtime and run car's until we have got through the pre-paid list. If we are still standing and reasonably fit at the end and others want to run, then we will run further car's at our discretion. Again, we will try and make sure that everyone that wants to run gets a run.
Our unit is reasonably out-of-the-way, but please respect the local's. We don't get an awful lot of complaints, but a few disgruntled residents could be enough to close us down.
Hopefully that's the formalities out of the way. See you all on Sunday!! :-D
