Perhaps you should be explaning your infinite wisdom on a Drag Bike Racing forum then.
Rather than a primarily car driving, more Jap biased than any other era/marque/type, track using forum of people who consider that perhaps other people have valid opinions.
You started off sensibly, turned into a knobber, and seem to be hell bent on getting worse.
Glad this thread hasn't degenerated into a shitstorm like so many other Dyno threads do :thumb: :wack:
May I suggest that we continue to add to this thread only with feedback that directly relates to the original question posed. I understand that your points of view have, until recently, been relevant to those points, but it's about to turn into a slanging match and this thread is not the right place for that.
One of the reasons that this forum works, in my opinion, is that the broad cross section of experience that various users have on here brings an alternative point of view, one that a more brand focused forum may not.
before getting our dyno 10 months ago all our mapping was done on the road, this was what we were telling customers was the right way!!!
since then we have learnt lots of things and mainly how you cant set up cars on the road and i suppose the same goes with track and drag
on the road how can you see if things like
more timing
less fuel
less or more advance on cams
vvt cam timing in different place
bigger thottle bodys
etc
actually work,so many times do we alter things that should make more power but makes less,so how would you know this running down a drag strip,so many other things can cause a slower time on strip so setting car on a dyno to see what works at least you know engine is at its max power.
im not saying that works in all case's,
but most old school people IMO are not used to change, and have memorys of old dynos that were not as consitant in 2 runs being the same even though the car hasnt changed,we get with in 3-4bhp every run once car is up to temp.
also if you look at the mapping on a drag car they dont have to worry about bottom end of map, they prob only run across the top line,
most cars we map even if used for drag or track have to be mapped on whole map
ill try and post some graphs to show what i mean soon!!!

No need to apologise James, I wouldn't expect Rich to apologise either. Nice to see a bit of passion in discussions otherwise we'd all be a very boring bunch of bastards, wouldn't we
