I thought I'd start a thread for the new project......................................the track supra :-D :-D

Some of you will be familiar with the car in question because it is Trevs one. We have decided to run it as a joint track car between us. We thought it would be a bit different and already is a very capable car, as Trev demonstrated at the Honington event :o , and with just some nice cheap mods it will be quite a good track car.

The ole girl has now been decatted and an HKS induction kit fitted. Next step is for us to rip out unwanted bits and have some springs fitted. We are going to get some decent rubber, but not complete slicks (cheers for the advice Stu  ), some part worn to start with for the little bit of warning on the limit.

By running a seperate car we are sure it will be 'cheaper' for us for a whole load more trackdays next year. I love my gtr on track but can never lean on it 100% because I'm too shit scared of bending it......with the sup we can drive it in a whole different way without the worry of being to much out of pocket 8) .

We are not going to go change much in the engine department, the boost will stay quite low for safety sake and it will be kept at stage one pretty much. An oil cooler will be fitted in time as will a cage of some sort. We might change the diff at some point to lower the gearing.

Really looking forward to seeing this project develop. Partly because with you two trackdays will be hilarious and partly because the car should be a very capable underdog, and we all love an underdog :thumb:

I can help with any amount of advice in the real basics of trackday prep (I've done it three times now) Obviously if you guys want a hand I'll be much more available in the new year. I reckon you could get over 100kgs out of the car and keep it comfortable and road legal, so that's better braking, handling and acceleration free of charge!

Keep us posted Dan/Trev and I look forward to seeing Team Supra on circuit in the new year.

Cheers Stu but we are taking it off the road just to use as a track car so all the weight will be gone.Even the dash will come out. This car will be a shell with an engine. So hopefully should go very well. Thanks again for any help you can give us stu we know you know your onions when it comes to this sort of thing :-D

Are you going as far as making it a trailer Queen then? :o If so you can really lose some weight out of that thing. Oh..........this will be some huge fun :-D
Thanks for the compliment but my knowledge is nothing more than reading thousands of articles, scouring the net for hours and hours and basic hands on graft removing sound proofing tar with heat gun and paint scraper etc etc.

I got my Sierra down to 1010kgs using the above and the power to weight ratios went through the roof with less stress on all of the mechanicals to boot. The only weight you'll be putting back in is a cage I guess......exciting stuff:thumb:
