Here's my new car, MX-5 1.8i NB. Firstly going to tackle body work and then start with the upgrades.
Standard car as I bought her:
I wasn't happy with the front lights as the years have taken their toll on them and started to get quite discoloured so I decided to take the buffer to 'em
Before:
After:
Car looking clean!
The lacquer has pealed off the mirros and rear bumper so the paint has started to fade. I popped to Halfords and bought some 1500 grit sandpaper and white primer, just waiting on the Mercury Silver paint to be delivered so I can start.
Before I start spraying
Got some new goodies coming over the course of the next 2 weeks so will post updates as I progress.

It's surprising how these little jobs make such a big difference. More importantly how many tanks of petrol have you gone through

Nice to see you getting stuck in

What did you use on the headlights? You mentioned the buffer, but not what type of polishing media or pads? If you haven't done so already it may be worth sealing the headlights so that they last a little bit longer.

@pablo - It's always the little jobs that make a big difference, but also accumulate to a large price. So far I'm still on my first tank of petrol, unfortunately there appears to be a tiny leak somewhere along the tank so I'm losing maybe £5 worth of petrol. Going to get it fixed this week because I'm going to London 26th-27th and I don't want to come back with a driveway full of petrol.
@Stuart - Thanks, learning new stuff as I go along from friends and what not! I used 75mm buffing pad from Halfords with T-Cut restorer and also Farécla cutting compound afterwards, buffed it out with the pads first and then by hand with a cloth. Finally used some C1 Crystal Liquid lacquer for UV protection.

Some more parts came today! Stainless steel mesh grill, seat belt top covers (currently missing from my car), JASS performance aluminium offset number plate bracket, LED side bulbs, Holts Mercury Silver spray paint. Just got to find the time to primer the mirrors and spray them.

Just drove from Norwich to Braintree and back to pick up my new strut brace

I swear some people can't bloody drive though, had 4 people very nearly side swipe me at 70
It's purple I know but I like the colour a lot, nicer than your standard chrome/alloy ones! Needs a bit of a clean up. Gonna spend tomorrow fitting it and cleaning the car. Also my Japanese rear clusters (dual reversing light spec) arrived so will fit those too.
