Just thought I would add a few photos of my new toy
I won it off eBay for under 1k, which I'm well chuffed with.
And it's a targa top too, which is an itch I've been trying to scratch for years!

Well done Pete! That is the same colour as my old one. The aches do look very scab free. Are the roof panels still water tight? How is the fifth gear? Although I expect you had already done your homework and knew what to look out for.
Because the seats in mine were ripped I had my mate (enigma-automotive) re-cover them.

Only plans really are to keep it in respectable condition. But I have looked at the possibility of a bike carb conversion..
Corrosion wise, it's very solid. It's had work done previously but it's 25 years old. Definately one of the best I've seen though.
Russ, I owned a sunroof mk1 a few years ago that I swapped and that was a dog and had all the typical faults so I knew fairly well what to look out for. There is a slight drip from the drivers tbar seal but only occasional. 5th gear stays in! And it's had a mod done to stop the alternator getting fed the rainwater from the hood.
Them seats look the dogs danglies mate
Ben, I looked at a few in the 1500 to 2k range and they were all in worse condition than this one.
I'm just lucky no one else viewed the car before the auction ended.

Time for an update.
So it's been all work and no play the last 3 months or so.
First the cambelt snapped then the oil leak problem.
Well I've actually managed to fix it.
I've lost count of the number of times I had to take off and refit the cambelt while trying to find that oil leak.
Turns out in the end that the camshaft seals were shot.
So it's all good now with no leaks
Just a few things to do now. Planning on stripping the interior. (It stinks after 25 years of letting water in through the roof) giving it a coat of hammerite inside. And to fit a nice set of recaro buckets in it.
May add some photos soon.
Pete.
