VW Golf MKII 16v 3 door

I thought i'd posted about my new toy, however can't find anything.
So, I've recently purchased a 1991 MKII 16v 3 door, spec is standard, rainbow interior, bbs RA's .. and it had a few minor cosmetic's that required replacement.
A little bit of history, this car belonged to me from 2002 through until about 2007 when I then sold it to by sister's boyfriend, who was promptly hit by a lorry damaging the passenger side, car was written off and then he bought it back and got another door ... well I can only assume it was from a rather 'fecked' up car ... but hey ho, exteriorly it looks fine.

Then she got shunted up the bum
However luckily it was only the bumper, rear panel and a minor dent in the rear floor
Car has covered 135000 miles and has a full service history. Not bad for

Nice car......will this be kept OE Ben? What do you suppose happened with the door then mate?

Well when I removed the interior panel, chunks of it are missing !!!! .. plus it looks almost as though someone welded a panel into the door due to all the rough welds on the inside !! .. so I think it's mainly made of filler

... luckily amongst all the extra holes the originals still exist. The door was actually sourced from a scrappy as the original was beyond repair
Plan was to strip however now that i've sorted most of the interior bits it's actually really quite nice, it drives well, well except for a minor vibration when you hammer it - which i'm guessing will be cured by replacing the engine mounts and the subframe - if not then replace the drive shafts and it will be fine. Gear change is still actually quite direct but I will fit the one that Mike sold me (all metal components).
So in short, spend a few pennies to make it nice, get it removed from the Cat D list and run it until I have saved my pennies for my replacement

I didn't even know you could remove cars from a CAT D list? My fourteen month sabbatical has given me more energy (and cash) to have a bit of fun. I would highly recommend it if you are feeling jaundiced with things.......that and the lay off makes average cars feel bloody ballistic!!

I expect Ben means he will have an independant inspection done? Although that wont remove it from the register. Unless Bens planning on an irish reg transfer?- But that would be a bit dis-honest and i sure not the way ben would go?;)
As im sure ive said before, im glad that the golf is back home again and knowing bens standards it will end up being quite a supurb example.

Yes Russ that was the plan, however I thought by having the inspection the car could be removed ..

looks nice ben, a standard 90 spec 16v , you dont see many of those around anymore
iv seen some awesome wheels for sale recently, i'l see if i can find a link
there zender sports splitrims with a perfect +25 offset mmmmmmmm
