My WRX road/track car...

After owning some rather boring cars over the years, I decided that it was time to treat myself to something a little bit more fun!
After a lengthy period of looking over various Impreza's I came across this one:

It's a 2001 WRX which at the time was mechanically standard apart from a cat back exhaust.
After a while I decided to remove the other cat plus have the car remapped. The rally graphics and huge spoiler had to go too! At that point I was content to leave it how it was....

I was invited to take part in a charity track day at RAF Coltishall, where I soon found that the brakes & suspension were not up to the strain of track driving (brake fade at 120 can be quite scary!)

Next on the shopping list were some Wilwood 6-piston calipers and some 330mm discs:

Followed by a set of Cusco coilovers with a full geometry set up which improved the car's braking and handling no end!

Having been well and truly bitten by the trackday bug I started doing more and more days.

I have since changed the Cusco's for a set of BC BR coilovers and also decided to improve the car's power. On went the VF35, 550cc injectors and uprated fuel pump, along with another remap which made some very nice gains. :D

The standard seats weren't providing the necessary support during cornering, so a quick look on good old ebay and I came across a pair of seats including subframes which were a direct fit! They are Cobra Suzuka Gt width which was a bonus (fits my fat arse with room to spare!) Also found a pair of SRS 6-point harnesses still in date for an absolute bargain price!
I had previously invested in a harness bar too...

Next on the list... Replacement discs, calipers and pads which I'm hoping will be ready for Snetterton 300 in Feb. :coolgleamA:

I really like this one; I know it looks pretty stock but the carefully chosen mods and the subtle differences............I really like it. Is this your daily too Matt?

Thanks for the kind words.... Have tried to keep things subtle as far as the cosmetic stuff goes. Hence changing the lights back to standard.

The car is used as a daily driver but I only do a few miles to and from work throughout the week.

Wilwoods were ok but the compound of pad I have been mainly using only seems to last from 1-2 trackdays with road use in between. I tried a set of their race compound pads, which advised "track bedding" and ended up with glazed pads and rotors!:beatdeadhorse5:
One other thing I forgot to mention is I also now have a 6-speed STI gearbox with Helix organic clutch due to the 5-speed loosing 3rd under light acceleration.
