well here it is the pulsar replacement after a 460 mile round trip to collect a trailer (lincoln) and the car ( droitwitch spa) then back to colchester
it was worth it though
firstly the trailer to cart jaffa around.
its a brian james (definatly been used) and was on put on ebay the day before going to collect the golf, i had planned to hire one saturday morning but as this came up at the right price i had to have it.
i thought i was going to be shot or something though when collecting it, firstly i had to meet a guy called kriss who was polish then follow him to a dodgy polish garage in some back street to get some keys, then follow him through an industrial estate the other side of lincoln three sets of locked metal gates on dirt track roads with caravans littering the sides alongside an old canal i started thinking 'this is not good and wondered if i would end up in the canal' but all came good in the end and he was pretty friendy guy who was hard to understand. i did'nt hang around though and drove out to the sensible part of the industrial estate before putting my numberplate on etc..
the mk1.
so on my merry way accross country with a trailer bouncing behind me i get to droitwich spa around 3pm all was ok and the loading was easy considering i had no winch and no engine in the car , loaded the van up with loads of spares and i was on my merry way with a very big smile on my face
arived back to rainy colchester around 8.15 so after about 12 hours the job was done
i had a little look in the spares and a brief look at the car and was greeted with some nice goodies like sparco plumbed in fire extingisher hydrolic handbrake, pedal box with wilwood cylinders, poly bushes for the engine/box etc.. rally intercom system, battery box already in ,all the lines have been replaced and run through the car plus other stuff i cant even remember (i will go to the car to have a good sort out.
now onto the car :
basically every single part has been removed and uprated/replaced with brand new items.
fully polybushed throughout
new wishbones (welded for strenghth)
new steering rack/gaitors
new hubs
tierods
brakes, mintex cf discs/pads,calipers not standard and unsure at the moment what they are, goodridge hoses, rear disc conversion again using all new parts, even the backing plates are new allround
fuel tank , filler neck, cap
wheel bearings
well basically everything replaced
also happy to see a brand new set of AVO coilovers
the body has had a full sripdown and paint and certainly looks fresh with new decals/ new badges
inside had been painted white throughout
i know there is a lot to do but what a base to start with imo
