Project Golf

Post by Ben »

Now, don't go falling over - Ben has bought a dedicated track car :) - You may recognise this wee blighter.

Day1

Jason handed me the cars and said, it's a bit raw, you'll love it, don't go hooning it around now will you ... as if!.

And he wasn't lying when he said raw! ... like putting your knackers in a meat blender - oh but what fun.

Day2

Thanks to Lee for supplying this rather fine seat - bit tight - but then it does what it is supposed to do and that is hold me in :).

Bought some Sparco seat mounts from what looked like the bargin bin at SCA - thank you very much :). A few newly drilled holes and hey presto one bucket seat fitted.

Going to APT for a complete service and new braided brake pipes to be fitted in the morning of Saturday. Autotest in the afternoon for full alignment.

Now need to source a drivers door and boot, repair some minor rust and then look to covering her in vinyl's, I'm rather liking Stu's old plan for the blue squares ... so will be looking into this shortly.

Oh man, that brings back memories :)
I've been looking at mk2's again over the last few months and hearing that Trev had bought one and now this..........

I really loved that car. Tough, fun and about the best thing about driving too and from Essex on my daily commute for 8 months. Noisy and crude but it went better than any car of that age had a right to and the handling on B roads was astonishing.

I'm sure you'll love her Ben.

Good job Ben. I have a couple of harnesses in the garage that I can let you have for a very reasonable rate if you need them :D

Can't wait to see this back out on the track :)
I may be getting older but I REFUSE to grow up :D
