project 'gold blend'

Post by tandyboy »

well after only a few months my CTR has had to make way for something that ties up a little less money, semed daft to have 12K sitting on my driveway barely gettting driven so away it went.

cost cutting replacement....... 328Ci, yes i know its not the most frugal car on fuel but i don't do many miles and i struggled to get 28 MPG out of the civic!

not my first choice of colour either but its had all the right starting point bits done and has done very little miles so as i sit in it and don't look at the outside while driving i figured i'd live with the colour!

i've done a wanted thread too as i'm not sure on the wheels, let me have your opinions and tips for more things to do guys :)

Looks like a nice enough car mate.....gold and bronze are everywhere on the car shows this year, so I wouldn't worry about that. If you wanted to tone it down a bit, either get those wheels powdercoated in matt black or get some other wheels that are less bling.

Straight sixes sound sublime so maybe an induction kit or exhaust work to liberate some soul from the engine.

Very easy to turn these into a chav fest, so personally I'd leave the cosmetic mods well alone (wheels aside)

already got a supersprint back box on, front splitter i like as with the side skirts but rear bumper will be coming off for something a little less bling, i know what you mean about the wheels, i've seen a pic of it with the M3 multi spoke 18's on and i love it, just need someone to swap with me :beatdeadhorse5:

As you've asked, I'd go for either the M3 wheels or the MV ones. You'll get 1/2 decent money for those rims. BMW's are really sensitive to wheels and tyre sizes, so unless they are genuine BMW wheels and specified for that model (I know they are M6 style) I'd pull them off and get some real BMW ones on again.
The engines respond well the the fabled manifold change, and Dave F intake off of E36coupe.com, and with a remap, should see around 220-230BHP.
I actually like the colour mate, not sure about the totally body coloured kit, maybe some contrasting carbon sections (splitter?)........

thanks for the input rob, i know very little about BM's, should i have staggered rims on it, i'm not sure if these are or not, hopefully i can turn up some M3 wheels at decent money soon as obviously i can't sell the M6's til i've got some others.
the body kit is a bit marmite, only bit i dont like is the rear diffuser but i'm sure thats easily remedied, been having a look around for some carbon bits and pieces to offset the colour a little, i don't think it will take much to help it out.
will need to wait for better funds to allow tuning but i'm happy enough for now with the speed

See if you can get someone you know with photoshop to mock up the car with some Matt black wheels. I've seen this before on gold and bronze cars. It looks cool in my opinion

Did you want to rename your project thread? You make the car sound like a real shitter :)

As you've called it a cost cutting car, I would nt go staggered.

You'll probably get most if not all of that from your M6 wheels.

cheers again rob, yeah, they're the ones i like, renamed the project now as as stu pointed out and on further reflection it wasn't the right name for her, cost cutting was only the fact i had money tied up in the CTR that i have used to pay bills off now.
not sure how the sport tiptronic auto will be on track but at least now i will be able to find out having some spare cash each month

Bloody hell! I wasn't expecting that Andy!
The pictures look great and you seem to have one of the uber rare models that has had indicators fitted
Do bear in mind though, That these MUST never be used. Not EVER must you use these, And on NO account don't even consider letting other road users know your intentions of which direction you intend to turn. Just don't do it!
If you follow these instructions then you will fit right in with the Bimmer Brigade :p

Seriously though, Nice car mate :coolgleamA:
