Two steps forwards, one step back

Afternoon gents,
In the continued quest to improve my 'ickle Golf, I finally got my old wheels off, to allow the fitment of 888's, and then got the BOGE springs slapped on.
This has resulted on a lower firmer ride as you'd expect, but the 888's are being kept for the 17th (Fingers crossed I'll get to use them)


Looks better, but the down side is, the tyres did this...

That is a very nice looking Golf and I do love those wheels. Can the arches be rolled or is going to be more costly than that, new tyres or different suspension.

Before you go flying off into the distance Rob, have you seen this label?

Roll the arches, shim the bottom of the suspension; the options should be easy enough to sort out. Once you've done either of those things, the wheels and tyres will fit quite nicely as there are a fair few people already running these on mark 3's

I think if I roll the arches the black trims will need to come off, as the are rivetted on under the arch as well as being bonded.....I'll look into it.
So if I read Gerrys label right, is there any point bringing them (The 888's) to the North Pole, sorry Norfolk next week?

can you not just bond them ?
trim the plastic/ angle grind the arch lip if you dont get them rolled

dont know how the snow situation is at snetterton but its melting fairly swift here in colchester

I'm looking at some replacement tyres at the mo, don't really want to change the wheels, only just got them on there!
I'll look into the bonding only idea, the car looks abit "pikey tec" with only three!

We are getting a thaw but it is still very cold and there is snow 'around'. The track will be clear, it will be wet and cold in the morning but it will dry nearer lunchtime and that's when you'll want the extra grip

To be honest, I can't bloody wait!!
I'd go round in Mand's convertible if needs be, or even Jack's miniature 12v Hummer!
I'll see if I can source some 205/45/16s tommorow, and only revert to the original 15" wheel if all else fails. Bottom line is though, my wife and kids travel in the car, so tyres rubbing is nt really an option long term.
So I'll be there, on whatever random wheels will carry me, Red bull, 888's and my brave pills. (Bearing in mind the last time I drove the Golf there I spun it on the sighting lap this could be a steep learning curve!!)
