Some of you know my Metro Gti that i use as a van. I tried it on track a while back and it was great fun.
I have decided to work on it a bit to make it better on track, whilst maintaining it's practicality as my everyday runaround.
i thought i would save a few kg's. I have stripped out door cards, trim, carpets and sound deadening.

The floor is very sound for a 17 year old Metro.
Cleaned up just the areas of the floor where the sound deadening was and painted. No point in adding paint for the sake of it.

Original seats back in as they are mega comfortable (reputed to be made by Recaro) and not that heavy. I also need to keep these as they are adjustable as i sometimes have to move the passenger one forward or recline to get stuff in.

I think i may have saved around 50kg including losing the rear seats/belts so should be under 800kg.
This made the back end sit around an inch higher than the front so i stripped down the hydrogas system today, shortened the rods/assister springs and pumped it back up to the correct pressure. It sits nice and level again now
Tomorrow, the front central locking motors come out of the doors, the front bumper support and making up some backplates for featherweight wing mirrors. I may save around another 5kg. Wow lol.
