E30 track day car-- idiot keeping himself busy!

Post by Rob S »

Things have got a little interesting this year with cars. I won't bore anyone by going over it all again (I can hear the sighs of relief!) but suffice to say that my buying this little car is a highlight!
I helped a friend to build it last year for a trip to the 'Ring, and aside from a few teething troubles (Replacing a broken engine the same week as the trip springs to mind) it behaved itself impeccably.
To be honest, the trip was the goal of the build process, and having done that, all momentum was lost. Apart from a track day at Norfolks finest, it's only been used occassionally to keep it running.
So at the moment, it looks exactly as it did when we went to Germany..

Which unfortunately means standard seats, and a scruffy interior full of soundproofing...

But help is at hand as I got a pair of Cobra Monaco S seats to chuck in, and will be hopefully sorting out the sound proofing stuff by the 16th.
Harnesses would be a bonus, but I'll be doing as much as possible before then.
I very much want to put my own stamp on it, even if it is a budget stamp!

I will have a decent 3" drivers harness for sale Rob but it'll be a few quid. Let me know if this will be any good

It's come out of my sprint car as it's failed the scrutineering for this year (perfect quality but not date stamped)

PM me a price mate..........I'm not sure what I am doing about harnesses yet, I won't be competing so the date stamp wont matter.
Did nt you use plumbers freeze spray on your sound deadening?
Love the smell of chemicals in the morning :D

Freeze spray is cool but dear for what it is when you can do the same with some petrol and elbow grease.

I would need to replace my harness with something that is 3" and date stamped, so I guess that I'd want similar moolah to whatever they cost to buy. Off to eGay to check as they are mint Luke 3" jobbies

i used a handheld plumbers type blow torch for the sound deadening horrible stuff on the golf
give it a little blast and it comes up real easy , little blast with thinners and its perfect paint :thumb:

i have a 2" sabelt 4 point harness doing nothing for a few tokens
i think i have a 3 point one aswell that was in one of the pulsars
but obviously buy 3" if you can
