Well I have bit the bullet as a couple of you already know and I have circum to the urge of having a track car.

After being on the track several years a go on a bike and a few pax laps recently I just had to to it and I have bought my self a
1998 Vauxhall Vectra sri v6 :D
It has been stored for the last year as the old boy who had it couldnt drive it anymore it had done 90,000 miles but only done 20,000 in the last 5 years, this is when the cam belt was repalced so that is the first thing to do before I put it on the track.

Before it was stood up it had new pads and discs, rear suspension bushes and front ARB links fitted, it was MOT'd on Saturday and went straight through with an advisory on the hand brake and 2 tyres.

It has got to have a good clean and polish as it looks like Stuart has been at it with matt red paint
But after speaking to a few of you I think that it will be a good starter car and many thanks for all your guidance.

I have been playing already and adapted the air box for a cold air feed and also seen on ebay that they do a center exhaust pipe conversion,

But if anyone has any bits please let me know :D

Will keep you posted on the project,

I think you'll have a great time in that! After seeing what a stripped out 2.0L Mondeo can do around Snetterton on the Novice day i think it'll be great! :D

When is it making its debut then?

Looks good to me J  I reckon you will have great fun in that. Really pleased you've finally decided to go ahead with the track toy 8) There's no turning back now mate, once the bug bites it's all over bar the shouting. Any news on your first outing?

Ferrari will have some spare body parts going cheap soon and you wont even have to change the colour, look forward to a ride some day

Cheers for the responce guys.
I will hopefully get the cam belt done in the next few weeks, but we are away at the end of May so some time in June I will try and get it out for the first time.

So do I Rob, but I thought the same with your old Civic
The guy who found it for me is a wizard on Vectras and tracks two of them and he recons that the engine is better than one of his.

But I am not to bothered if it doesnt last as I only paid

That looks good Julian, I'm sure it will be a real laugh and a great way to test the water without spending any large amounts of money

I take it you'll fully strip it, service the car and then get some decent laps in before spending any more?
