i have been looking for a cheap little car to turn it into my trackday toy. after my very brief trackday experience at snett at the virgins track evening my pulsar only lasted about 5laps and 2 of them was behind the pace car, then 4th gear went pop and the pulsar has sat in the garage waiting for a gearbox.

but i got the bug and really enjoyed myself breifly, so thats why im staring this project thread about the little clio 1.8 16v

Image

its not in the best of condition it has been neglected and needs some TLC, the tax is up at the end of the month and MOT beginnig of april there are a few issues that need sorting.

it has 132,000 on the clock but the engine sounds nice and pulls very well, it needs a new exhaust and a ABS sensor, needs new sills and the tracking needs doing.

going to concentrate on getting it nice and reliable, then in the coming winter will start on getting it into some sort of track car, like suspension (poly bush), braking and wieght loss.

its going to be a boring thread for a while as it is just going to be repair bits then the good stuff in the coming winter.

Trev its french, reliable and french dont seem to mix in my experience, this is my 2nd renault i had the 19 16v previously it was reliable but wont be driven as hard as this thing will be.

it looks ok from the outside, but abit rotten underneath. i have to many little projects going on at the mo, the other half has just bought a hyundia coupe its a nice car fully loaded cruise control, air con, leather its a nice drive and will be reliable for her. so i have to get her car tidied up and sticking it up for sale. then continue taking bits of the pulsar ready for the gearbox and squeeze this little clio in between in doing all this.........looking forward to it to be honest.

will get the cooler of at some point, when do you need it?
