My project R32

Not been on the forum for a while, somewhat busy starting my own jap tuning company near Gatwick ! But I did manage to acquire a car that I've fancied for a long time. This R32 was rotting away on someone's drive, she had sat there for a year without turning a wheel

So in I rode on a white horse and rescued her  The car has HKS 2510s, FMIC, bigger injectors and Haltech management, the last time it was used was on the dyno where it shredded the clutch. It has apparently had a lot spent on it but can't confirm so will assume a stock bottom end etc.
Anyway, this was always going to be on a bit of a budget, got the car nice and cheap but decided to go for a complete colour change.......
Here's how she looked when I got her.
The car then got stripped and here she is before she left for the bodyshop.
I love the gunmetal, but decided to try something different. Kandy's have been done to death plus if you scratch it then it's a nightmare. So I decided on a blue dye over a sparkling aluminium groundcoat from
http://www.outrageousfinishes.co.uk.
So off the car went to the bodyshop 8)

The car is now back and I am in the middle of refitting all the trim, interior, engine etc etc. But, at the last minute we opted for a colour change, we decided to be more 'daring'
I'll post more when she's back together, but here's an idea of the colour.
It's the same dye over a silver groundcoat but obviously VERY orange. Couldn't afford new wheels so the old Volks were sandblasted and painted gloss black, the calipers are the same colour as the car so I think it will look cool.
Can't wait to get her back on the road, will be swapping out the Haltech for an F-Con and then get her mapped up - then it's time for the track ! Was actually booked on a track day today but couldn't get the car put back together in time.
I love the colour though, not everyone will but I do 8)

I think that is gorgeous.......in daylight that must be even better. People get all precious about old 32's. They are nice cars but I never see anything wrong with different paint jobs.
Lexus lights or similar and I'll drive to Gatwick and bitch slap you though

Are you going to use the car as it is in terms of mechanical bits?

You're spot on mate, in sunlight you need shades

And I totally hear what you say about R32s, I almost didn't go for the colour because of that reason. But I decided to keep the body very much stock GTR and just go for the nicest respray and colour I could. Wasn't going to keep the CF bonnet as I'm not that much of a CF bonnet fan, but I'm going to keep it as it breaks up the orange nicely, even thinking of a CF splitter too.
stuart wrote:Lexus lights or similar and I'll drive to Gatwick and bitch slap you though ] Blimey, if I put Lexus lights on I'd take myself outside and have a word  Nah, quite safe mate, stock rear lights etc.

I love my Supra to death, it's just awesome but you couldn't use it everyday and with the ext. wastegate, it's too loud for trackdays. I want the R32 for everyday and the track, so gonna stick with the mechanicals as they are and see how I get on. The 2510s seemed a bit laggy but I'll map the car and see how I feel once it's all done. If I can get 500ish at the flywheel then I'll be happy
They say that every petrolhead should own an Alfa just once and I totally agree (been there done that - loved it, RWD Alfa 75 8) ) but I would say every petrolhead needs to own an R32 GTR once too !
