New wheels

Post by Tonynos »

I found that when I had my little off at Snetterton on Thursday I had bent my front near side rim :( so I phoned Rare Rims to see if I could get one to replace it. They told me that there wasn't any Rota Grids in gold with a polished lip for an Impreza in the UK at the minute  and they had no idea when they would be able to get one. As I'm going back to sea in a couple of weeks time I thought what should I do and decided to get a new set of rims and keep the 3 good gold ones for track wheels :D I'll just have to get another one next time home.

Got the Rota Grids again but this time in gunmetal with a polished lip 8)

As it was my first track day I think I over cooked it a bit going round the first corner touched the brakes which unsettled the car and spun out  There is a slight bank (maybe a foot high) on the grass just after the first corner which I hit side on and it popped the tyre off the rim :( I must have still been going pretty hard for it to bend the wheel. I've got to pop back to the tyre place today and get a couple of new Toyo T-1R's as the one that had popped off had a far bit of rubber inside it from where I had driven down the back straight with it flat.
I'm not sure who's video of the third session it is but you can see the tyre marks going over the little bank on there.

Did you put the pressure up in the T1-Rs ?

They have quite a soft sidewall and need more pressure in them to stop them tucking under and coming off the rims.

They were running about 34psi all round. What do you recommend to put in them when on track?
