After working out how much it was going to cost to get the RX-7 how I wanted, I decided the best bet was to sell it before the engine went and get something different

Anyway - on to the new vehicle! I'd always had a soft spot for the DC2 Integra, but the EK9 is definitely something else, and after a few PMs were exchanged with Darren (Mr Windscreen - thanks for your advice and info mate) I'd decided and started looking for the best example I could afford.
I soon found out there are very few being advertised which are a) actually in the country and SVA'd etc b) not been fecked about with or c) not being sold by importers with bad reputations, so I'd almost resigned myself to a bit of a wait while 2 good examples arrived and were prepped, until I saw one on Pistonheads that seemed to tick all the boxes

It was owned by a guy who was clearly an enthusiast, and had been a weekend dry-miles only car since he'd bought it.
So my mate Simon and I took his Mk5 Golf GTI (great mile-muncher that!) up to Leeds yesterday for a look, and before long all the pictures I'd been sent and the phone conversations I'd had with the seller proved to be accurate, and it was mine!!
Spec-wise, it's a '98 pre-facelift in Champ White, although it does have a few features which I thought only appeared on the run-out Type Rx special edition, such as power retracting mirrors and aluminium pedals, I guess they were options on earlier cars.
It's got some nicely though-out mods too which are a real bonus, plus all the original parts and original alloys were included in the sale

Mods are:
Spoon ECU (VTEC changeover lowered to 5100 rpm and rev limit raised to 9100 rpm  )
Buddy Club heat wrapped header
Skunk2 70mm throttle body
AEM V2 Cold Air Intake
Desmond Regamaster Evo alloys (stupidly light and the makers of Spoon's iconic wheel of the same design)
Spoon plug leads
Spoon low temperature thermostat
Spoon fan switch
Spoon magnetic drain bolts
Apexi voltage stabiliser
HKS plugs
Short Shifter
Exedy clutch fitted 250 miles ago
I think that's all

Bad points are very minor really - there's a small stone chip on the passenger wing, and a small dent on the driver's side wing, (the only one on the car, which considering the panels are very thin is really good) and the seat bolster is doing it's usual collapsing act but that can be rectified cheaply and easily.
Needless to say it shifts a bit and sounds incredible! Even with the stock back-box the noise in VTEC made me laugh out loud when I was test driving it

Here are some pics too, from the ex-owner until I get a chance to take some of my own:

Cheers,
Alex
