Heres my new project car so before I hear the cries 'Its not a big power car' or anything similar I will just add Im determined to get this car to go quicker, possibly for some light hearted drift action :D After selling my GTO and getting a Gixxer I dont need a paticularly fast car to satisfy my speed needs.

I bought this car a couple of weeks ago as a 'tinkering project' but after a few days of driving it ive decided I need some more power.I havent decided what im going to go for yet (2L Pinto,2L tuned pinto,Cossie V6,Chevy V8 :o ) but there is a guy putting a tuned RB25DET in a Mk3 Capri' on another forum so even thats a possibility. At the moment im just getting it look better while i research what I want to do and what funds will allow as the engine transplant will probably happen next winter. In the mean time I will be sorting the cosmetics and the other issues such as suspension and brakes in time for any updating of the power :D

Here it is as I bought it...

Got the car home and started to have a proper look at what I had bought and did a few odd jobs.First up was the grill,de-badge and re-paint the lettering..

Next up was the empty engine bay ready for a new engine, needs a clean first though..

After some WD40 and a rag for a few mins...

Had some rust issues to sort...

Ive sorted these out to a bodge standard, not happy with the result so wont be posting pics till im happy with my handiwork

Very cool Adam,
Saw it at the meet last night and meant to have a chat with you, but couldnt see anyone with a sheepskin coat, moustache and madallion lol.
I am actually your resident Capri expert. I have had a number of 3.0s and 2.8i's and only sold this last year after 17 years of ownership!

It had a new TVR 400 engine and Bilstien Gp1 suspension etc. Cost

By the way, it was 210bhp at the wheels when not fully run in and under a ton! Great fun :-D

In my humble opinion the RS 3.1 is the only one to go for. Legendary in it's day, and parts are still available. You only have to look in FastFord magazine and on the internet for parts as there are plenty about.

Whatever you stick in it it's a cracking bit of OldSkool machinery. My old man had a black 3.0GXL when i was a kid and i still have fond memories of that one :D

If I had the funds I would have, the reason i got this was because i kinda stumbled into finding it and it was peanuts to buy and insure :-D
