My Classic WRX

Well, where do I start :? At the beginning I guess.
I used a own a rather nice Cav GSI, few mods and 150whp. Was very clean for it's age, very minor rust on the OSR wheel arch.
Couple of pics:
It, unfortunately, came a cropper one Sunday morning. Such a shame, 97K miles on a G plate was quite low. Ended up looking like this
So, what to replace it with?
I knew I wanted a turbo'd car, just what to buy. I really wanted a Scooby, but, wasn't sure :? Looked at a couple, one had really high mileage and the seller drove it like he stole it so was put off by that. Second one I looked at, I wasn't sure of the seller. Car was at his 'home', but there were another 4 or 5 cars for sale on the drive.... kind of put me off.
Evo's were beyond my budget, so I discounted them.
Went to look at a GTI-R. Absolute dog of a car. Bumper stone chipped to death, scratches all over the bonnet where the owners dogs had been jumping all over it. The seller told me it had just had a new 'box put in, then took me out for a test ride. Well what can I say, I've since heard quieter straight cut dog boxes.

I would have given him

Ouch! Your injectors are at 100% IDC from 5500rpm onwards. Are you on the original 380s/FP? You can see it lean but fortunately not to dangerous levels. What turbo are you using to give 330hp @ only 1 bar? Excellent quarter mile time, that might explain the appetite for gearboxes!

Yeah, standard injectors, Walbro pump fitted though. Knew I'd forget things off the list.
Turbo is TD05 16G. Been running at this spec for nearly 12 months now.

Do you monitor for det? If you are on stock management it runs alot of advance. It does have CLKC of course which might help. It would be interesting to see where your IAM is. Most I've ever seen from a 16g at 1.1bar and 7k on stock fuelling is 313bhp at which point it was leaning dangerously. Rolling road figures, pinch of salt, etc.
I would be a bit wary in this instance though. If you are seeing 100%IDC at 5500rpm you are on 127% IDC at the redline, all else being equal. (It will be slightly lower than this as your VE will drop), but either way, thats risky. It looks like youve hung on to 11:1 as the ECU will be requesting 10:1, but if it gets colder that will lean further which isn't good on stock internals.
Quarter mile time is excellent for a standard spec car though. I could never figure out how Bob could do 11.7s on a 16g and 340hp. He did have PPG etc, but still! He probabaly got some tips off Andy when he was mapping it

great explanation from Andy - have you got a fuel pressure regulator running on this ?
That could buy you another 10-15% IDC at the top to keep it safe on those injectors.
Other than that - looks a great car 8)

I t certainly is a world record for a 16g at 1 bar. Thats why I'm a bit worried about the AFRs. Still, if its held together for a year it can't be too lean.
