first. sorry i havnt been on here much recently as usual ive been trying to get the car sorted which has stopped me from doing any events, now to the story.

i was driving to stu's shop on saturday afternoon to pick up the interior trim i wanted, i was overtaking 2 cars just before rocklands when disaster struck, a horrible noise came shreeking form the engine. the last time i looked at the revs i was doing around 7.5k i kept my foot down to finish the overtake by this time i dont know what revs i was doing but they were high and just as i was about to change gear in came that horrible noise. i glanced down at the oil pressure guage to see my worst fears confirmed, the needle was sat firmly on the 0 with the red light on, needles to say i quickley turned the engine off and coasted to a holt.
I got out of the car and proceeded to look underneath, i was greeted by copius amounts of oil sprayed everywhere, i was in quite a state by this point so decided to turn over the engine to see what kind of noise it was making and a bag of nails is an understatement. just to top it off i had left my phone at home so had to ask a man in his garden if i could use his phone which he kindly agreed to let me do, 30 min later and the support had arrived (my step-dad and brother) we phoned the AA and an hour and a half later it was on the back of a flatbed homeward bound.
The engine by the sounds of it and the nature of what happned is beyond repair (without me piling large amounds of money into it) but i have decided to make this a turning point in the cars life rather than the end of it, im curently in the process of ordering an R34 Nur Spec engine from japan and if all goes well which it should i will be turning it into one of the best R32's in the country. Im planning on getting a nismo plenum some splitfires and a tomie manifold/turbo elbows/downpipes and a power FC to go with the new engine and hopefully some N1 turbos and take the car form there, with handling and bodywork mods to come in the future.

I heard sorry to hear it mate ... and i'm glad it's onwards and upwards! .. just a quickie - weren't you tempted to look at a rips RB30 - the exchange rate is amazingly good in our favour. I beleive you can have a rips motor landed in the UK for

Shit happens John and you certainly get your fair share. 'Red is dead' was a phrase I learned from Mr Booker very early on in my GTR ownership. I take it you'll get a shift light next time ;)

The Nur will be great, as we discussed, but you'll need a huge bloody pile of money behind it to make it 'one of the best R32's in the country'.....that is some claim (unless you've won the lotto )

Who will be fitting the engine? Have you asked their opinions as to what they would suggest? Have you considered an RB30 from Rob?

I appreciate the immediacy of buying from Japan is a quick fix and therefore it's something that can be slapped on another credit card and 'sorted' but it's rarely as straightforward as that.

Whatever you do I sincerely wish you the best of luck. If I or anyone else local can help, you only have to ask and I'm sure we can pull together.

John ...

GTR32 Engine, 60,000,miles (ish) complete with turbos and some ancillaries, was running before removal but a slight knock on the bottom end, needs rebuild or an ideal donor of parts. Front diff still in place also.

:o - not good btu as others have said I am glad you are bouncing back from this.

Has the 32 got a rev limiter?

@ 8250 Dunk but it's not what I would want to rely on. These old girls rev quite quickly so if John was at 7.5k and then kept going he could have easily hit an indicated 9k.

John, PM Rick at Drag and Drift if you want to source a complete engine. He may well be able to source something to suit your needs.

thanks for all your replies, its comforting to know there is help at hand. i know a claim to beng one of the best 32's is way up in the clouds but thats the target i would LIKE to reach, you have to set the bar high :D.

for some reason an RB30 doesnt appeal to me and i didnt want to get anything older than an R34 engine. i know a brand new nur spec engine is alot of money but i just think its an opportunity not to miss as it's brand new and hard as nails.

and i will definatly be getting a rev limiter set this time around!

as for who will be fitting it, i would like either gary or RK, gary would be ideal as i know him and its close but i will have to see what he thinks and if he is happy to do it.
