right.

as some of you may know, i have become the new owner of a pre prepped MK1 MR2.

i have yet to pick it up ( hopefully thursday )

being a project it needs some work ( any welders out there ? lol )

i will of course update when i get my sticky mits on her.

it has been used in sprints and hill climbing until very recently.

bought for the princely sum of

Hey mate, great little track car you have there!

You need to join the IMOC and search around or ask on there for some ideas on tuning really.. As usual though, seeing as it is a track car it is beneficail to do some cheap mods to handling, brakes and breathing mods for the engine although not going too far as its N/A and you have to remember track noise regulations etc!

Begin by stripping it out though and fitting some harnesses and possibly a bucket seat for yourself, if you have the budget a rollcage for rigidity and protection... these are all relatively cheap to do (stripping it costs nothing and makes a huge difference although allow yourself to get used to it stripped out as it makes a massive difference to the handling characteristics)

I'll speak to you about it wednesday more but i am pretty sure that me and BrownEJ20 (Justin) will be able to help you out with the welding - hes an mot tester too so can advise you further if you need an mot. Im a dealer for EBC too so if you need any brakes i can see what i can do for you :wink:

Not ideal being all the way down here but if you struggle with the welding give me a shout..... :-D

cheers. i am already thinking about the logistics of getting the welding done!!

not being 100% legal, it will be hard to get to a workshop.

i am gonna do as much as i can myself on all other accounts.

can the welding be done at my house?

this is the info i have from the auction....

1986 Toyota MR2 AW11 (Mk1)
Raced in a few sprints & hillclimbs this year. Ideal cheap track car/introduction to sprints & hillclimbs. Could be competitive with some more effort and a bit more money. I wanted to make it happen, but have switched to a Reliant Scimitar

Fitted with Tokico 5-way adjustable dampers, Apex springs, Pagid fast-road brake pads.
15" multispoke alloys with Toyo T1-R's on the front, Kumho Ecsta's on the rear, all with good life left. K&N air filter & stainless exhaust.
Front strut brace.
All carpets stripped out, but the rest of the interior remains.
Engine uses a little oil. Gearbox is good, no 5th gear pop-out.

She failed the MOT 3 months ago, requiring welding on both sills and drivers side floor. Also requires a new brake pipe, front drivers side IIRC. Also failed on some small silly things like blown bulbs and no screenwash!
So she's sold with no MOT or tax.

I used to own half of that car!!!

You bought it from razza987 yeah ? That was our sprint/track car originally but money got short so I sold my half on to Razza.

I've have done 2 trackdays in it at Brands Hatch and RAF Marham and I have to say it handles really well but it lacks power on the straights.

At Marham I was hassling Lotus Carltons around the bends but getting my arse whooped on the straights!!!

yes it is. lol picking it up from him thursday evening.

and no, you're not buying that half back ;)

now looking for a camry 3 litre V6 engine :D
