bonnet vent install -Video added

We've been thinking about putting some sort of vent in the bonnet to help get air to the induction. Luckily for us our sponser gave us a couple of sapphire cosworth vents. I wanted to have them installed by a bodywork specialists as you only get one shot at this.
Bart however wanted to fit it himself :argue:
Sometimes you have to show your trust in people so i agreed. [-o<
so he came round after work and started the cutting after pre-painting the grill and we took the bonnet off the car

bonnet in my kitchen intact

pre-painted grill and template

bart masking were the grill is to be fitted

drilling holes to fit the jigsaw through

cutting the insulation away (could not watch him using the jigsaw,cutting the bonnet)

sprayed the corner of the grill to follow the line of the graphics and lacquered

once dried put it into place seeing the end result

tomorrow (today) fit mounting brackets and put back onto car :-D

Looks an absolutely fantastic job done there

Thing that confuses me is that those vents will draw air out of the engine bay wont they?

Great job there chaps !!

Real attention to detail spraying the corner.

Have to agree with Dunc, they will draw air rather than feeding it in.

The vent sits directly over the air filter which is not of the cone type as you cannot get them for the 2.8.. The hope is that the force of the suction will draw some air in. As our car does not have an ecu sucking in too much extra air could actually result in our air/fuel mixture becoming too weak on boost.
Plus we do need to get heat out of the engine bay, so i am hoping to get dual benefit from where we have sited it

Great effort guys. Nice to see the slim shady workshop is still being used

I am sure a cooler engine will be a happier and safer engine. Interesting to see the results next week. Nice paint work again too.

i would assume a vent like that helps heat soak whilst stationary

also if its drawing air out natuarly it helps to draw it in at the front?

Hey, deadlines have to be met and sometimes sacrifices made. To date he has killed my front lawn by spilling petrol on it, sprayed my rear lawn red. doing the first bumper and emptied the entire contents of his gearbox oil over my drive. :x
Oh yes one more thing... whilst i was at work he decided to strip his old GT and leave it sitting on axle stands outside my house for 2 days :x
