After a busy couple of months rebuilding the engine amongst other bits and pieces we are finally having the car set up and a dyno run this saturday

There are still a few jobs on our list such as relocating the oil cooler, relocating the 7th injector and fitting an 8th injector, upgrading the coil. These will be done over the next couple of months in between track days

Sounds a great plan Pablo - make sure you post up a scan of the dyno run and add it to the garage dyno rn section :thumb:

You two never seem to stop developing that car :D

It's not by accident, after an extremely hard few months building the car we decided that we needed to start having fun. Hence our first Track Day at cadwell 29th october. I was also waiting for the completion of our first track day before booking onto the Nurburg 700. (Booked on 3rd November).
We decided to view each track day from two perspectives. On the day itself - Pure fun
The days after we would discuss and evaluate how the car went and what changes we needed to make.

Yes we could have done some of the things at the start but this way we get to know our car inside and out. If you jump into a fast car is doesn't follow that you'll be quick around a track. However if you develop the car whilst driving it around tracks you're far more likely to become a quicker driver

As Bart said not a good day

Got there bright and early and a little nervous.

Fitted the saab fuel pressure regulator only to find that it was faulty, so had to re-fit the standard one.

The first couple of runs to check that all was well and that she was fueling ok went fine.

Then decided to adjust the boost, what a job that was not the simplist of things to get at
This is Gordon at Streetracers

Now it was time for another run to see what boost she was making. All went well boost was slightly up so we new that we were going in the right direction. The wastegate was then adjust further to get a decent increase, however after another run power had dropped slightly :?
In this situation the obvious thing to do is adjust it the other way/ We did this followed by another run and guess what? It hardly made any difference :?
We then fitted a bleed value to see if we could control the boost level it was at this point that water started to piss out of the header tank.

Unlike the time when the head gasket went, this time there was no smoke out of the exhaust and the water only pissed out near the top of the rev range as opposed to half way up the rev range.

This looks to me to be the same problem that we had at both cadwell and at donnington when we thought that either it was sinply overheating or that the head gasket had gone. However at donnington we were still able to ga back out on track, just short shifting.

Confused........At this moment we have not got a clue....Do we strip it all down to check the head gasket or what?

Video footage will be put up next weekend once i have had a firewire port installed in my pc.

Ok, after a somewhat stressful weekend it would appear that there is light at the end of the tunnel.
The problem thatt we are having with the car is not the head gasket :-D
Nor is the engine overheating :-D

The problem is that when you throttle off from high revs the engine is vacuming. We have a very slight leak from the top of the water pump housing, not enough to affect the level of water visibly but when throttling off it is sucking air into the water system, thus increasing the pressure in the system until it blows out through the expansion tank cap. :o

Not something that either of us had come across before, but then again we've never built a car for use on a track before. :-D
