Well Dan, the delay does one of two things. Builds anticipation as you say, and nudges me towards boredom :D

I hope that tyres and increased stiffness reward me the way that I expect. I kind of see where the 'project' is going as every MOT website/thread I have read clear states that any road legal car must have a drivers seat that can mechanically adjust in two or three different positions. If that is the case I simply won't be able to get low enough for serious track use (Doesn't stop me using this for non-serious fast road/ drift stuff though)

That being the case, club drift car anyone? :cheers2:

Boredom can lead to exciting things though :D Not all bad ;)

I'm sure it will mate, we all know MX-5s have a great reputation for the grin factor. You'll be beaming  Isn't there something you can do to have bolt in provision for both types of seat? You could have the bolt holes in the floor for the bucket seat. And also have provision for a conventional sliding bucket seat frame? Just an idea :smash:

The problem with that is that the seat channels that enable me to fix a seat to the floor need to come out. With them out, I can gain 40mm minimum. With them staying in place I might as well not bother.

More homework required I think.

I know you are a great mapper but even you may have you work cut out with this car! The gains on an NA 1600 will be close to fuck all though mate, surely? Apparently if you adjust the timing to 14 degrees it helps a touch

Yeah flat mate. I intended to use some 3mm sheet to re-enforce the area but I can't see how it will adjust easily enough to satisfy an MOT tester (or VOSA etc)
