Doh... exhaust fail. The leading edge of the silencer just atet the cat has parted company from the pipe, hopefully its just a welding job, depends how much good metal is left.
And Russ was just asking me how it had been ... perfect I says... hah typical timing. Can't really complain how often do you run a

Having recovered from going deaf on the journey home... un-silenced Clios are a little on the noisy side, I'm playing Kwik fit between the f1 sessions.
The exhaust came off the mounts easily enough, but unfortunately does a little loop up and over the rear beam, and by the looks of it wont come off without dropping the rear beam down, gosh i lub FWD.
So now off for a little internet research while I watch the Monza quali.

I was begging to wonder about that, but then if i can weld it, i wont need to buy a new one so... Off came the shock bolts and the car was stood up on its nose in comic dragster pose:

And off it came.

Not sure how salvageable it is, it snapped here:

Which will weld back on fine, but the silencers seem to have a double skin of which the outer bit is fecked, near one of the mounts.

Probably new exhaust time, still 90,000 miles on what i'm guessing is the original exhaust is not bad going.
Will definitely need some new mounts, these have had it:

And time to shake the moths out of the wallet.

Like you say though, looks like an OE system and 90k ain't too bad for that. Bet you a pound to a penny that an aftermarket system is cheaper that OE........unless Uncle Russ has one in stock

I knew i had waisted my time replying to your pm!
Still glad it came off ok.
That hanger looks quite normal to me though mate. When they are proper knackered they either snap through or the rubber comes out of the alloy housing completly. If you spend out on a new ones it will sag and look like that one in weeks.
Still glad it came off ok.
Apreciate the effort
You wouldn't believe the advice on Cliosport.... there were posts recommending chopping your new exhaust in half to and then sleaving it to fit it.... all for the sake of two 18mm bolts. I can understand cutting the old one off, if the replacement is in moor pieces but chopping a new exhaust in half... Odd.
Hopefully ill get the clamp off the rear of the cat, tonight, it looks rusted to hell, ebay time! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HEAVY-DUTY-EX ... 383wt_1112
