Cheers for the calm and clear replies Stu. It always helps to have someone else's point of view to help you think clearly through a problem.

Yes I have had a team bollocking from Alan this morning:cuss:

It could just be me expecting or wanting too much, I don't know. Maybe i need to step back and relax more.

Time to open a bottle of wine.

Can I ask a really stupid question and don't hate me on this.

Why are you still pushing for doing all this with a Ford ? Surely with the money, time and effort you guys have put in you could have taken a Scooby to the same level plus with the added benefit of it all being done before.

It just seems that every time you get close an engine goes and it's right back to square one.

Why a Ford?
These guys love Ford's. Simple.

I am sure that they could have picked any Japanese 4wd car (Evo, Impreza, GTR) and been 400+ for less money than they have spent/committed so far, but if that ain't what you want, the exercise would be pointless.

My frustration would be in spending Cosworth money and not getting Cosworth performance. Only Al and Paul know what they've spent, but they're not daft so I guess they know their sums.

Enjoy the wine Pabs. Whatever happens try to retain your sense of collective humour. Our love for these things blinds us some times but they are only cars when all is said and done.

We do love our fords and especially the sierras.

Plus what ever we've spent on this project wouldn't even cover buying a decent base model evo. The cost of engine builds may be simular but the base starting points are worlds apart.

Well, it's a bright sunny day so as soon as Alan gets over (assuming he's still talking to me), we'll get on to the car to see what's what and hopefully it's just a gasket.

Frustrating as this period is, when it's done (not if) you'll be grinning from ear to ear :)
I must admit, if the figures you've been told to aim for are accurate, then it might be worth getting someone new to give a second opinion.

After Alan had finished slapping my wrist we started on the car.
Intercooler pipe taken off
Fuel rail and injectors removed
Then it was time to take off the inlet manifold. This was tricky as Alan didn't want to damage the gasket as we need to find the leak and if we broke the gasket taking it off then we wouldn't be able to tell if it was that which was leaking.
Once off we could see where it was leaking from, bottom right hand corner.

Gasket changed, silicone added and all put back together and the leak is still there. The gasket that Alan had was half the width and thickess of the one taken off so i believe that is the problem now. But as it was all we had we had no choice but to try it. So I'll get a new one this week and we'll try again.

But and a big But......I now have a much clearer understanding of what's going wrong, so will be making that my priority to sort out next week and it will be as it's something so simple and small that i really should have picked up on it before:banghead:

Oh well....at least it's not a big problem mate. Certainly not worth getting the amount of upset you've had over this week. Onwards and upwards Pablo.
