Well I didn't do badly, but it could've been a whole lot better :(

Firstly it was a great day and I enjoyed it far more than Blyton, I think that's because it was a proper circuit and also because we did 1 3/4 laps of snett 100 rather than just the 3/4 which made a good difference.

There were also more Skylines this time, not just me and a load of r35s - 4 R32s I think and a 700bhp R33.

Anyway, first practice run and I stuck in 2nd fastest which pleased me - and upset the 35 owners (I wasn't aiming to beat as many 35s as possible honest!!). I also had a passenger with me for all the practice runs too.

As the runs went on the times fell all round and it was shaping up to be a great battle between me and another r32, aswell as the top tuned r35s and the r33.

We ended practice with me the fasted of the Skylines, I can't remember what position, 4th overall maybe (3rd without the radical which was in the guest class).

However, on my last run the car cut out completely on the exit of Palmer, leaving me to coast back into the paddock. All a bit odd but it was a bit low on fuel (although not as low as I have run it as the light wasn't on).

So I sloshed 20 litres in and went out for first timed run. CAr was fine and I put in a 1.37 dead, 3rd overall and 2 tenths quicker than sam in the other 32 who took a chunk out of his PB. Happy days, this was going to be fun.

Next run it cut out again. I hadn't taken my laptop and Litchfield (who sponsored & Supported) didn't have a laptop with syvecs software on it, even though they have loads back at base - aaaaaaghhh. It was obviously some kind of safety cut from the ECU as it started again fine and ran fine, but no way of telling what was upsetting it. So I lobbed some octane booster in, purely as it was the only thing I could think of.

Went out again and it completed the lap although I was 4 tenths down.

Next run it cut out again. So I gave up :nopity:

All the while the others times were coming down - Sam had now gone quicker and bumped me into 4th. He was driving really well and led right to the end when he was pipped by a flyer from the 2nd placed r35.

So I was hugely frustrated as I only got one proper timed run in and could've been right up there as I knew there was time to find, instead I watched the others times tumbling while my GTR ran perfectly in the paddock. Still, with my one timed run I managed to hang on to 4th place overall - so while I watched sam and the 2 35s get quicker, no-one else actually got quicker than my time (22 cars) but I was just out of the pots :nopity:

So overall very frustrating - that the GTR let me down when it's been being so good, and that I didn't take my fucking laptop which would likely have meant the issue could be fixed.

Still, as I wasn't even going to enter it makes me chuckle how competitive I got about it. And it was a really good day, just one of those things

Think i'll enter next year.

Oh and I didn't launch it and my starts were terrible, I really think if I'm going to do more of this I need to set up my launch control as currently Ryan just put it at 5500 and a random boost setting, I guess if I do that it should be kinder, or less consistently bad, on the transmission??

And pabs, yes the MLR were at Snett on Saturday, we were sunday - Darrin from MLR organises the GTROC Sprint too

Here are the results sheets, I was slightly wrong above on the practice results but correct on the finals

if these don't work then I don't know how to copy them here :leaving:

Very promising mate and a damn good effort, things can only get better once that software glitch is sorted.

Well done, not a bad result considering you were only entering for a bit of fun :hurray: . Are you now exploring the idea of doing a few more rounds next season? Any idea what the problem was?

I thought you might have an advantage driving wise as I said in my email and i'm sure some shelf space would have been required had the car behaved :)

Are you still having to take it easy on the upchanges?
The GTR35s have paddle shift I think yes?
Did you get any video?

No vid as I left the GoPro SD card in my laptop - which o fcourse I left behind :banghead:

Don't have to be so gentle with the box but the new OSG one doesn't seem to like being rushed so I'm not convinced I'll save any time there. The R35s are paddle shift yes, and seriously rapid too - it's amazing to hear them bang up through the changes and makes you realise how much time you lose with a manwell against something like that!

I spoke to Ryan today and he said the only thing that would cut the engine is oil pressure, I thought fuel did too but he says that just puts it in limp mode. So he's going to remote in and adjust the pressure level that trips it as I don't have oil pressure problems so the trip must be set too low. Also going to put a seting on the Cal switch to turn off logging, that way if I hve to drive home it won't overwrite the fault logs it registers at the circuit which is what will have happened now - I knew I should have taken the sodding trailer! Oh and set up the launch control.

some pics were posted of the day on GTROC

there's one of the rear of mine that looks like it may have cocked a rear wheel which would be a first I think, unless it's just the angle

And a cheeky lock up
