Re: Project GTR (zed replacement)
tbh I did wonder if it was my great mass that was making it list, my disco off roader used to sag on the drivers side but i'd hope even I can't sag a 1000 pound spring....

All joking aside though this is something that I have been pondering over recently. Quite hypocritically on my part and by way of a complete contradiction to the point that I'm trying to make here, I've opted to re-tackle an Overeem inspired training programme and I reckon it won't take too long to pile on the pounds above my current 16 stone, so personal body weight is something to factor into a track build/development I reckon.
I think people can get so focused on relocating batteries, power steering bottles and drilling holes in a vain attempt to shed a kilo of car weight here and a kilo of car weight there where actually a bucket less of creatine a week (or alternately) a few less pies and the occasional brisk walk may be just as beneficial.

Agreed chief. When I didn't have enough cable to locate my battery on the pax side I convinced myself that actually it was better on the drivers side as the turbos and exhaust ran on the left so there was more weight there anywayjap.slapper wrote:All joking aside though this is something that I have been pondering over recently. Re: Project GTR (zed replacement)
Had the alignment done at Wheels in Motion. As I suspected it was waaaaaaaay out. Toe out on both rears (hence it squirreling around on the start straight) and loads less camber than it should've had on the front. So that would explain why my first lap on the sprint was very sideways and led to me softening the rear right up and dropping tyre pressures. And of course my lap times, I'd clearly have one with the right GEO
So the front camber issue was down to the new top arms. We looked at them and couldn't understand why there were 2 nuts either end. Decided they'd easily work with one so took the arms off, only to realise the reason there were 2 was because without them the threads met inside the "tube" part of the arm, rather than giving you all the extra camber they promised.
In this situation there's only one thing for it so out came WIM's hacksaw. Considerably later both were seriously hacked, re-attached to the car, the unnecessary nuts lobbed in the bin, and the alignment put back where it should have been.
Now need to book a TD and go for a blast. Much as I fancy Donny I think I may book snett as I'm keen to find out if the OSG 'box has improved things ratio/on boost wise. Early signs aren't promising but i'm praying to God that some light road work and a sprint on an unfamiliar track aren't showing it at it's best so am reserving judgement until I have some meaningful experience.

Re: Project GTR (zed replacement)
Do you know what gearboxes the other guys at that GTROC sprint event were running?
Re: Project GTR (zed replacement)
How long would it have been out Christian?, also the camber issue? we always said we needed more front camber to use the tyre better..Monster wrote:Had the alignment done at Wheels in Motion. As I suspected it was waaaaaaaay out.

I think you know snett best and have lots of previous data so would be the place to go i think. if you do, don't 'try' too hard though, at least for as long as your natural exuberance will allow
