I was thinking as I drove around today - it would have been very easy to have not gone for a Type R with these mods if judged on a short test drive - i confess that the first time I actually drove this one was the drive out of the garage!.
My immediate thought was - what have I done, harsh ride, hard clutch, noisy ... so yes, I changed my mind on the way back and was amazed at it's ability, fantastic short crisp gear change, the ratios ... BUT .. today, I really have come to realise what a perfect set up it is.
My gripes would be that at low Rpm the exhaust is loud and tiresome, but if you give it some beans it sounds awesome, the power delivery is smooth (in a ever increasing kind of way). Brakes even though four pots do seem quite dead, it has grooved affairs on the front, but that's it.
I think that the Type R is a car that should really have stayed standard, i.e. girly friendly clutches, softer suspension ... but I can tell that this is going to be mega on track!!!.
So to sum it up, god I love it!.
Little niggly bits to correct i.e. spare wheel, fix the pump on the water washers other than that though blinding!. I'm not going bother cleaning it though until at least March

Sounds good matey but dont forget these are all things that you can change afterwards eg go for a more easy clutch or a softer exhaust. There are lots of Scooby specialists in the UK that do parts that arent too bad for price and as good as if not better than the big Jap brands. Its not like the olden days with your GTR where you had to buy HKS etc and pay the premium. Its important to go for a good base car to work from which you have.
Yep it did seem strange that you left work saying how you wanted some luxury and comfort and were looking towards German made cars and that all went out the window when you started looking at Scoobies and in particular the Type R.
Isnt it really Prodrive in the UK who helped develop the UK Scooby suspension for our roads to make them more compliant. Obviously a Jap model like yours is built for millpondlike roads

Front plate does obscure the FMIC a bit! I have a long rectangle one which also covers some of the FMIC, but the charge temperature gauge shows that it doesn't make that much difference (I take the plate off for trackdays).
From the scoobyclinic sticker I guess they've worked on it previously? Do you know about remap yet ... what boost did it make on the drive home? With standard turbo and FMIC they can be taken to about 1.5bar, although some may consider that a bit high with standard head gaskets and internals.
