Project GTR (zed replacement)
Well, well, well
Not only a nice update but one packed with an automotive porn shopping list, imminent track fun and cable ties!
How on Earth you got by Bedford's noise limits is anyone's guess but I am delighted that you did.
The shot of the car on the dyno reminded me about those wheels of yours.......I had forgotten how rude they looked with that offset, dish and a bloody great of treble 8's on there
Best of luck.........how trick is that remote uploading by Wi-Fi? Hope you don't get someone's microwaved lunch interferring with the uploaded data and set that car to 2000psi

Thanks guys, appreciated.
So, Bedford. What a mental circuit!!! The GT circuit has it all, Long Long straights (getting big revs in 5th) v fast long corners, v fast esses, and some gnarly tight stuff too. Nice amounts of run of ftoo in most places. My only criticism is that it's very featureless so no real reference points to help a newbie work out where he is!!
Still I really really enjoyed it, that high speed stuff is just awesome! Definately going back to try and learn it more.
And the car? Well I wouldn't say faultless but I'm a happy Boy
First problem encountered was randomly cutting out on first lap of second "hot" session. The tow of shame back to the pits was followed by much scratching of heads, listening to pumps, removal of fuses and relays, yet the finger of suspicion fell eventually upon the fuel guauge!! And yes, it was ifffy. Was showing over half full yet was dry.
Got going again in the pm and cranked up the boost, big difference in top end power and very noticeable on the long long straights, then a boost pipe popped off. Which it did again on lower boost, and again ??? extra jubilee worked but by this time I was running the curcuits fuel rather than v power so kept the boost down. This wasn't really a problem as it was still outdragging and outlapping some serious kit even on low boost, which again made made me happy
My first thoughts on the car are that it has simply masses of grip over other track cars i've had/driven, and it is very balanced and controllable. The brakes are bigger than my bollox so I look forward to getting braver with those. The other good news is that the tyre temps were very consistant across the tread so the geometry set I went for seems good.
It seems to be behaving itself too, temps were all good even in todays heat, only the PAS called time and started spitting fluid out. I've already put a cooler on it but it's behind the bumper so this gives me an excuse to drill holes on the nearside too
Criticisms are mainly things to be fixed, I was still getting dips in oil pressure once I really started pushing on, inc under brakes. Nothing too bad but I think it warrants more work. The speedo doesn't work at the mo and I think this is causing the 4wd to be in most of the time. Although this clearly gives plenty of grip it doesn't suit the way I like to drive and I much preferred it when the 4wd was workinmg as it should. Also think I need the wheels balancing up again as a bit of a vibration at high speed. Weird bearing type noise from somewhere too.
Also managed to highlight a few minor niggles with the map and pretty much fix them.
So all in all, at last, a pretty successful "first" outing for the GTR, a "To Do" list has been created but not at the expense of some bloody great track time
I've missed it!
