Nice dash.....far too cheap; you robbed the guy. As for the fibreglass, I mean carbon bonnet, will you be painting that or leaving it with the weave showing? It would be criminal not to get yourself some dirty blown arches Trev....do the mk1 arches just bolt on? If so, store your decent ones, buy some tatty ones and then you've got the OE mint look for shows and the proper munter motorsport look when you need it too.

Changing the subject, I'll be ordering some bits from AVS this week. Can you check what I'll be ordering, just in case I fuck up

the berg cup arches are not a simple bolt on if thats what you meant, plus you have to cut half of the arch away to fit them
i could fit standard gti arches they just fit the same as the mk2 arches but you dont really gain much by fitting them, 5mm at a guess
i may fit a cl arch trim in carbon fibre just to be a whore
the jury is still not 100% out on the berg cup kit so maybe just maybe
but thay can be done anytime , my priority at the moment is getting it running and useable , tweaks can be applied at later dates.
mikes dropping of the trailer monday morning so as soon as jaffa is undercover i will be attacking it like a mad man, be nice to have the engine in the bay by the end of the week

the scales just loiter around , handy for weighing things i send off via courior
and occasionally i step on for them to tell me something i already know :D

so what you buying now ?

Bart wrote:that dash looks sweet mate, but i love the bonnet wish could afford to fit one to our race car your car will look sweet with it on:thumbs:
cheers bart , the thought had not crossed my mind buying a carbon bonnet until we went to gti international show at bruntingthorpe, performance trim had a sales stand there and they had one mk1 damaged one ( couple of scratches and little bit of laquer chipped of one corner thats not really noticable) and it was half price (after a little haggling)
i did think about painting the outer halfs and leaving the middle weave but will probably just leave it all weave
i'v not tried it on the car yet and if i dont like the look then will sell it on or paint the whole thing which just seams wrong painting sexy carbon

i'l order door card set from them when they actually answer the phone aswell

firstly thanks to mike for bringing the trailer back to me at short notice and helping me load and unload the car to its new home.
i'v made a bit of progress on it last few days
flocked dash and clocks are now in properly,
Image
resevoirs and front brakes are all complete/fitted just waiting for fluid, rears are just waiting for the stoptech bias valve that turned up thursday to be tapped into the line, then there all ready for fluid
bracket made for bias valve that sits infront of hydro handbrake,
fitted indicators, fixed bumpers and lower spoiler properly
cut out the drivers side seat baseas it was designed for a midget, that was a challenge as it held the hydro handbrake aswell anyway cut new metal in (waiting for me to weld it)

engine is now definatly chosen , 16v 1.8 kr engine with knife edge crank, karl schmidt pistons (slightly oversize) decent bearings etc etc ... so should rev alright and its currently fitted to a mk1 golf (show car) that has been in an accident and a cat b so im having the complete car and there is a few goodies on it aswell

i have a dificult decision to make asap on a set of twin 40 webbers/manifold/facet pump, fpr and bits or zx9 bike carbs with manifold, bike pump etc..

also tried on a compomotive and with a little bit of camber will fit just fine :D
just needs dropping about a mile

Lush :D

You need a small roll of the front arches ;) I have to ask though........what the fuck is that steering wheel? I have a nice Nardi one that I'll donate to you, rather than you use that Raid thing :)

Looking great and the new engine will be something quite special in there.

Well done
