I think also because you are putting on quality and tried and tested components its making the difference.

I'll never forget the jap one I took out for a spin and still hanker for a DC2.

You did well to get a good one mate plus Black makes it look a bit of a sleeper. Saw a UK red one in the city the other week driven by an old couple, looked nice in red.

My gauges finally turned up today after a long 4 week wait. :headhack:

The build quality is superb, i got them as they are a similar but cheaper version of defi gauges in the way they operate but the key selling factor for me was that they were one of very few gauges that lit up the same amber colour as the dash.

I have everything ready to install them, along with the oil cooler brought from Ady.

However apparently many people advise against running an oil cooler on an Integra as its serious overkill and causes overcooling. Im just looking for some clarification and advise

Those that fit them only use the Teg for racing/track-days only and advise on having a sandwich plate with a thermostat built in.

I don't have a built in thermostat in the sandwich plate.

Will this cause problems, should i not bother with the cooler?! What i thought was going to be simple now seems a little more taxing.

Is there such thing as an in-line thermostat!???

Wasn't the car built to be run on the track ? Surely it's overkill. Alexb has an EK9 and has done loads of back to back laps with no issues with cooling.

Best thing to do is actually try driving it and see if you do get a problem. At least some of the gauges will give you a better idea of how it's running.

I think we all get preoccupied in buying bits without actually deciding if we really need them ;)

The oil temp and pressue guages will tell you if you need a cooler. The Dax had a bloody big oil cooler in front of the rad. With water temps at 100 and oil at 70 the thing would overheat at anything below 30mph. The oil cooler was blinding the rad and giving it hot instead of cold air for about 1/3 of its area. Removing the oil cooler now sees 85 water and 80+ oil temps which is perfect. Overkill can do just that!

Just bear in mind that the manufacturer of performance cars know what they're doing and if they don't fit an oil cooler it's unlikely to be needed. Hondas are pretty bomb proof as standard.

IMO :)

I had those gauges in the Scooby. They looked really good but the oil pressure gauge went tits up after about a year and the alarm function that can not be turned off gets on your nerves after a while :frown:
I hope you have more luck with them than I did.

I had similar problems with Defis. It was the oil temp with me and the incessant bloody alarm.
