Good luck with the sprint and maybe get some video of your runs . Pete

Decent video to watch for the lines, 1:17.5 in an Elise (albeit one with 300bhp+)

What is 'Vertical Acceleration' mate, displayed on the right hand side of the data screen?
Re: Project GTR (zed replacement)
Basically up/down g-forces, or a measure of how bumpy the track is/how well the car damps the bumps. Combe is very bumpy in places which you can see on the display. It's also got a couple of nasty ones on very fast apexes which you have to be a bit careful of in a powerful rwd car.jap.slapper wrote:

You can see them clearly in this video whichis what prompted me to do the vertical acceleration display.

Thanks for clarifying, that makes perfect sense now

Thanks for those posts, very interesting. However, round 2 is at Blyton Park. Not sure if this link will work, I copied it and the lap explanation from the GTR forum.

We'll be the first to use the Eastern Circuit for a Sprint which has a great mix of high speed and more 'involving' tarmac through the infield!
The Start is shown on the map near 'Twickers" and the Finish will be shortly after "Port Vite" allowing the cars to slow before Ushers2 and then return to the paddock.
This is the first year the GTRs have had their own sprint, in previous years the guys just entered the open class of the MLR so should be fun. The EVOs are running on the Saturday I believe and we are running on the Sunday.
I will definitely get some video and will post it if I get round to editing it - I've never tried, hence all my gopro footage sits on my drive in long, boring sessions. Must have a play and see what I can do.

So are you intending on camping overnight prior to the event?

Re: Project GTR (zed replacement)
Managed to get the brake pads on last night so had my first go of the OSG gearbox. First impressions are that the old one was so fucking noisy, even ticking over, that I actually heard engine noises I've never heard.
It's also much nicer to drive being so much quieter. You can hear gear whine more than a std box which is nice
The box itself feels great, and the longer first gear is noticeable, foot to the floor is now no longer a big scramble for second as soon as it gets on boost which although less exciting is definitely an improvement. Difficult to tell the benefits of the closer higher ratios on the little blast I had on the way home from Whifbitz.
I was also pleasantly surprised with the clutch, I thought a triple would be heavy and very snatchy but its actually much more user friendly than the twin I've taken out.
My only slight concern is that the changes can't be hurried in the new box, there's a definite 2 stage process to a gear change which may be down to the fact that the gears are heavier duty, or maybe it will improve once there's more heat in it. We'll see. Although as Malc points out how much a slow gear change has cost me when comparing data I'm a bit scared the new box is going to slow me down
Still, at least it can take some more boost so that should make up for it
All in all I'm very glad I did the swap and looking forward to getting it on track. Now I just need to get rid of my 2 std boxes....

I take it that with the new box fitted it's possible that your gear change points (at Snetterton 300 for example) might be different to those that you've been used to when using the standard box on previous TD's at Snet'
It's got to be a step forward though and I'm sure you'll be chipping away at your PB in no time
