Not just me it happens to then heh :)

Flats been fine for 5+ years, refurbished it to rent out and within a couple of months the shower goes - certain irony really.

We shall see though - I think I do have the pennies for those brakes as well its more how my other half percieves my spending (she has a big problem with my cars) and if its worth the headache it would cause.... maybe I should investigate getting them delivered to work :D

Edit: Noticed i've waffled on far too long, will try to have a decent update next time :D

Btw what format are the workshop manuals you mentioned previously? Is it something thats emailable or is it a little big for that? Imagine they would be worth having to reference if needed :)

I'm sure you have to enlarge the holes on the carriers to fit the new calipers.

The manuals are a PDF and very large - however I'm sure I've got a link to where I got them from. Will have a looky.

Couple of points on the above from my experience (and expense)

I honestly wouldn't waste your money on r33 or r34 brembos. They're shit and if you intend to do any track work you will end up upgrading again so you may aswell go big in the first place and not waste your money. The rears in particular will give you no advantage over stock.

You'd be best to look for a used set of 6 pots and 356mm front discs - stoptech or whatever are pretty cheap new so second hand won't be much. Just keep an eye open for them.

Any brake kit for an r33 or r34 or indeed a Z32 will fit the R32. As you say it's just a case of drilling out the holes and binning the stone guard things. Rears go straight on with no mods.

Wheel wise beware of dish as this does NOT equate to big clearance for brakes. The Grids you mention will be fine. However, in order to get a big dish, i.e wide rim, the wheel is manufactured differently. Hard to describe but most wheels have a "step" somehwere between the inner and outer rim. On a deeply dished rim the stepped part is nearer the outer rim, on a less dished rim the opposite side. The point of this crap explanation is that they will often not clear the brakes which of course sit nearer the outer rim, behind the face.

Eaxample - I ran rota grid drifts over 356mm AP 6 Pots. I bought a 2nd set of rims exact same size and offset (18x10) but this time Rota GTR-D which are a specifically deep dish rim. Had the slicks fitted, excitedly bolted on the rears, went to put the fronts on, wouldn't go over the caliper for the reason mentioned above! Gutted as had obviously already fitted the tyres so the alloys weren't returnable.

To be honest its not so much that I feel the car needs beefier brakes (although may change my stance on that when I get to the track heh) but more that the discs and pads could do with being replaced at some point and its another piece on the 'If I see a bargain...' shopping list :) As you say though if I see anything beefier than the R33 Brembos for good money i'd consider them too :) Didnt get the ebay ones as they went a bit high for me (especially considering the shower problems)

Thanks for the workshop manual links - will check them out :D

In the meantime however an actual update!;

Freshly undersealed the transmission tunnel - stopped myself short of stripping back the rest of the chassis & the existing stuff as I can worry about that over winter :)

Image

Also since I didnt have time to do the gearbox this weekend I started fitting my datalogit and Wideband lambda cabling... Lambda sensor wouldnt go out of the cat heat sensor hole so I fed the cables up through the hole and will mount the control box to the chassis rail somehow :)

Image

No pics of the inside as its a mess atm, but suffice to say the wires will remain under the carpet then go under the centre console up to the dash and will find power sources and grounds etc from there :)

Exciting stuff as it means once the gearbox is in there wont be much more work...

Also no pics but took off the side spats as they had come loose and found a spiders nest under one of them.... Will clean up the spats and the bodywork and then refit them :D

Hopefully at the weekend - although in conversation with Earls at the moment as the braided clutch hose which was shipped on the 8th hasn't turned up :(

Also still torn on if I should be refitting a clutch i'm not 100% about but I guess absolute worst case scenario is just box off again and i'm back where I am now :)
