Hey Guy's

Just thought would update you all and let you know that chances of getting her to Bigpower on Wed have now diminished greatly. As I'm sure you can imagine I'm absolutely gutted. Just seems all that work, for a car with as many probs as when I started.

Just fired her up this evening engine temp went to red within 10-15mins, idling better but still not great and as soon as you try to give her any revs she not happy at all. :x :x

Think poss something to do with the carbs set up but don't know what.

If anyone happens to know anything that may help here yet again all advice gratefully received.

Now going to go and read my haynes manual from cover to cover and try to find a webber carb instruction manual on the internet to see if can sort this.

Thanks

Suz.

Don't think this is the case had it running last night with rad cap off to bleed system, appears to have a really stupid set up from rad to engine which me thinks isn't flowing water round engine.
Going to take off pipe from water pump and see if pump is working then replace thermostat into housing as not there at present and see what happens.
She drove 200 miles home with no thermostat (we found out when home) so thought she should work, although now wondering if because the head was gone this meant the water would flow without the stat and hence not overheat and now the head is fixed maybe she does need the stat to run.
We will see.

Thanks

The car will run whether the thermostat is installed or not. If it is overheating with no thermostat in either you have a blockage somewhere(possibly the Rad or hose or waterway??) or the pump isn't working.

When you bleed the system make sure the interior heater matrix is fully open onto hot setting as that may trap a lot of air.

Gutted for you as i know the feeling.
Buggers cancelled my op just a couple of days before it was due. Inconsiderate barstewards!!

I reckon its the pump thats failed

Weird how it was all fine on the drive home though

As for the rough running it can be a multiude of things, plugs, leads, carbs dirty.Just a case of changing/replacing them.My capri seems to be running better the more I use it-probably the carbs gummed up from sitting still for a couple of years, could be the same for you

Good luck with the project :thumb:

It's just had new plugs, leads cap & rotor arm.

I now have a suspisionthat the timing may be 180 degrees out so firing in the wrong order. Will have to see.

Thanks for all the advice will let you know
