bugger - I will shout at Adrian who does the dispatches.... you cant get the staff

Getting really paranoid about my car now - gonna check oil level in a few minutes to see if it has gone down from yesterday. Fingers crossed for saturday for me but I would rather finish second to you to be honest.

Nah no problem, Adrian has been ok about the return and replace thingy :thumb:

Yeah, I would have preferred that too mate ;) :) But good luck anyway! Zak might be the class 4 to beat now?

I think you'll be ok oil wise, but I know I'll be checking mine more often! Apprantly its down to the large clearances being run because of the power levels we were looking to get from the engine, it makes it use a lot of oil. Kev was saying he checks his every day even though he only drives 7 miles a day! :o

I've been checking every other week or so, will check it every time I use it from now on!

So if people want to ensure their car is roadworthy most of the time, follow these important tips...

1) Use Octane Booster if buying petrol at Snetterton
2) Give Land Rovers a VERY wide berth!
3) Make sure you have some oil in your engine

Just goes to show important it is to check though, something I've taken for granted a little bit... another expensive lesson, but I won't be doing it again!

Nope, oil pressure looked fine.

Was just pootling along nice and steady in low boost when it happened, no warning signs at all.

Nope, no lights or pops or bangs, just suddenly changed engine notes.

Update - Still haven't got round to sending the audio cable back...

Oh yes, and it looks like the engine failure wasn't my fault after all, I guess in retrospect it would have had to have got through a lot of oil in a couple of weeks!

Looks like the primary problem is a head gasket failure, Scooby clinic are going to see what they can get hold of which is stronger than cometic, if it exists! :o

They've been chatting to a guy who has a lot of experience with NOS, and apparantly he has seen regular use of NOS cause head gasket failure.

Sooo... back to the drawing board! If it looks much too costly to upgrade from cometic may scrap thr NOS and go for a twisted turbo to keep the power up where I need it to be.

Looking at putting some coilovers and a GT Spec anti lift kit (which I stumbled across inthe garage yesterday!) on it while its in and losing a bit of weight.

No estimate on when it'll be back on the road yet, but I'm hoping a couple of weeks or so, but I guess that'll be running in time again

Ok, another update, seems there was more damage than originally estimated...

Engine needs to be relinered, rebored and a new set of pistons. Kev of Scooby Clinic is trying his best to get it done in time for SSO, but I'm not overly confident if truth be told :(
