Just had a thought - this could be a wild one ..... the reservior for the clutch is in the front as far as I remember and I'm sure the Attessa reservior is in the boot .. however the hicas reservior, where was that? .. Are there any shared components with the hydralic system for the clutch?.

Has this gone wrong since removing the Hicas?. I know they are seperate systems just a thought ..

for interest do you have the workshop manual for the R32? .. if not, I can dig it out.

Jeez 2 pages about a Clutch issue, c'mon we need more posts about uprated turbos, Nismo stuff etc ;)

Ben doesnt realise that once you have an RX7 you have to do a load of stuff manually on your car so it becomes part of the fun rather than just taking it to a specialist and paying ;)

However with the current issues I'd be tempted to do as Ben says and ring Gary for a 5 min chat as I'm sure he could clear the problem up straight away.

Hicas is linked to power steering and was messed with long after clutch problems started heh :)

To be honest now i'm fairly certain the problem is hydraulic (lets face it that noise isnt a normal operation noise, its got to be air coming into the system somewhere hence the problem in the first place) i've already ordered a nice new braided clutch line, will bypass the stock harmoniser loop when i refit it all..

Which just leaves the slave and master cylinders - i'll refit the box at the weekend and visually inspect the two cylinders, and replace the slave and maybe the master if it looks like it would help too :)

Even if I get 2 new cylinders (Slave & Master) then its still less than I was quoted by a garage to take the box off and inspect so cant complain too much :)

RE: Phoning a specialist, just dont want to annoy anyone or waste their time as I wouldnt be planning on taking the car to them so would feel rude just phoning for advice

However in the meantime I need to work out where i've got space to add my wideband lambda boss (if anyone had one fitted before would be good to see - trying to get it on the downpipe rather than the decat as I want to be able to swap in a silenced version for the track) - want to get this welded in before I refit everything

In terms of new goodies i've got these bits too;

- Innovate LC1 Wideband to go on
- SARD BOV to replace the stock recircs - got this cheap so will see how it sounds and move it on if its not my thing
- Datalogit stuck in customs - wont let me pay for it until I get my letter but letter hasnt turned up :(

So stripped the clutch master cylinder down and it had brake fluid on both sides of the seal (which looked fine weirdly) so I think i've found the problem in that :)

New clutch master cylinder is here;

New clutch line direct from master cylinder to slave is en route from Earls - copied the HPI style with a banjo on either end to try and keep it simple;

Picking up new Slave cylinder from Nissan tomorrow (cost less than some people want for a second hand one!) and then just got to worry about this clutch as I still dont trust it tbh... half tempted by a Nismo GMAX triple plate i've seen (basically a rebadged exedy triple) but shall see :)

In the meantime though got some other goodies I might fit before the gearbox (putting off the heavy work heh);

FC Datalogit for the power FC, going to teach myself how to map (or at least tweak maps);

And a Innovate LC1 wideband to compliment the datalogit;

Got to love having a pile of goodies to go on the car :D

Good call - thanks for the suggestion :) will probably aim to get everything in place and give where the box goes a nice helping of underseal on saturday and then fit the box on sunday... shall see :)

Really cant afford them this month (well I can but not according to the other half) but am keeping my eye on a set of R33 brembos which have new discs/pads with them too.... bit silly really as i'm not 100% about the clutch and dont have wheels big enough for the fronts atm but they're at a good price currently and its all stuff that'll need doing before I hit the track anyway :)

I'd wait for a pair of R34 Brembo's for the front chap and R33's for the rear.

The R34's are bigger than R33. I had R34 on front and R33 on rear - couldn't fault them at all for road driving - they also allowed me to do more than 7 laps before they died - the R34 / R33 set up would last a complete 20 minute session - saying that, when they got really hot they would vibrate under heavy braking on track.

But a very good set up for the road. Makes a majorily noticable difference.

You'd need 18's in the cheaper wheels or a set of 17inch TE37's .. the TE37 has a square inner profile so a smaller size will fit over the bigger brakes.

A good size wheel (double check with images) - 18 x 10.5 + 15 5x114.3

Example of the dish on an Evo

Varrsteon Track Series 200 (DragonPerformance sell them apparently)

In 17 by the looks of it

To be honest it'll depend on what comes up really as am just keeping my eye out for a bit of a bargain really heh :)

I keep finding myself looking at a new set of rota grids in 18x10 et15 though - was very tempted recently but found out the shower in the flat I rent out has packed in so need to spend on that instead :(

The R33 and R34 brembos are the same size iirc, only difference is that the R34 has M14x1.5 thread instead of the R33 with M12x1.75 - the ones i'm watching are on ebay atm are these; http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/330776303848? ... 1423.l2649

Its a shame really as its a price i'd have been willing to pay considering the new discs/pads but they've come along at the complete wrong time for me.... We shall see :D

In other news other than the braided clutch line have pretty much got everything ready to put it back together now :D
